Turning hospitals into true healing environments

(Dan Tri) - With the model of green - clean - beautiful medical facilities, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan called on the entire industry to change to not only help patients recover quickly but also provide mental therapy for the medical team.

On the evening of August 7 in Hanoi, the Award Ceremony of the 1st Green - Clean - Beautiful Medical Facility Contest took place. Launched in August 2024, the contest was organized by the Department of Disease Prevention ( Ministry of Health ) and the Health & Life Newspaper.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan said that a “green” medical facility is not only about trees and landscape, but also about sustainable development thinking, energy saving practices, and reduction of plastic waste, which is the message of “prevention is better than cure” for the whole community.

A “clean” medical facility is not only a clean physical space, but also a safe environment, minimizing the risk of infection, protecting the health of the people and the doctors and medical staff themselves.

A “beautiful” medical facility is not just aesthetic, but a healing space, a place where patients feel their physical pain is soothed by peace of mind. It is a comprehensive care, reflected in the commitment of the medical industry to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment, and increase patient satisfaction.

The Minister mentioned the model of Phu Tho Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital, where tens of thousands of square meters of land have been reserved for trees and gardens, turning the hospital into a “healing” park. Or at Quang Ninh General Hospital, where every little corner is taken care of, creating a friendly and safe medical examination and treatment environment.

However, Minister Lan also acknowledged the difficulties and challenges such as limited resources, narrow urban areas and especially the huge workload that is weighing heavily on the shoulders of medical staff. Therefore, today's award ceremony is not the destination, but the beginning of a new phase with higher determination, stronger and more comprehensive actions.

“A positive working environment not only helps patients recover quickly but is also a source of energy and invaluable spiritual therapy for the medical team. It helps reduce stress, restores labor, so that doctors and medical staff love their jobs more, are more committed and dedicated to their noble mission.

Caring for caregivers is also a humane goal that this movement brings,” the Minister emphasized.

At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded certificates and symbols to 20 medical facilities. The award structure for 5 medical facilities is: Central medical facilities, Provincial medical facilities, District medical facilities (now regional), Commune medical facilities, Private medical facilities. Each level has prizes including: 1 First prize, 1 Second prize, 1 Third prize, 1 Encouragement prize.

More than 2,000 medical facilities across 34 provinces and cities have registered to participate. Nearly 350,000 patients, their families and people participated in the survey and contributed their opinions via QR codes.

For central medical facilities, the first prize went to Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, the second prize went to Military Hospital 175 (Ho Chi Minh City), the third prize went to Bach Mai Hospital (Hanoi) and the encouragement prize went to Hue Central Hospital.
