Billiards: Tran Duc Minh defeated former world champion, Quoc Nguyen lost the championship

Tran Duc Minh and his teammates continue to show high performance and extend their winning streak at the 2025 - 2026 PBA Team League Korean professional billiards tournament.

Duc Minh and Kim Jun-tae continue to win

In the final round (9th) of the second leg of the PBA Team League 2025 - 2026 billiards tournament taking place on August 25, Tran Duc Minh's Harim Dragons team faced off against the Legend team. The pair in good form, Tran Duc Minh and Kim Jun-tae, continued to lead the way in the opening match (men's doubles), facing the pair Choi Sung-won/Lee Sang-dae. Notably, Choi Sung-won is a very strong Korean player, having won the world championship in 2014, when he was still competing in the tournament system of the World Carom Billiards Federation (UMB).

In this game, Duc Minh and Kim Jun-tae had a harder time and could not launch a big series. However, the Harim Dragons pair played tightly, limiting the "flank openings" for the opponent. Duc Minh and Kim Jun-tae won the first game against the Legend pair with a score of 11-7, after 10 rounds.

Tran Duc Minh and the Harim Dragons players have good form in round 2 of the PBA Team League this season.

A smooth start by Duc Minh and Kim Jun-tae opened up a convincing 4-0 victory for Harim Dragons against Legend. In this match, another Vietnamese player, Nguyen Huynh Phuong Linh (also playing for Harim Dragons), took the field in game 3. Phuong Linh made a spectacular comeback with a series of 8s to beat Javier Palazon 15-13.

With an impressive winning streak and 17 points, Harim Dragons made a strong breakthrough and finished in 2nd place in the 2nd round of the PBA Team League 2025 - 2026 season.

Quoc Nguyen's team missed the championship of stage 2.

In the final match of stage 2, Nguyen Quoc Nguyen's Hana Card faced Phoenix (with Daniel Sanchez and Semih Sayginer). This was considered the final match of the stage. In which, Hana Card (17 points) had a big advantage when only needing to win 1 more point against Phoenix (15 points) to continue winning stage 2. However, Nguyen Quoc Nguyen and his teammates had a really bad day of competition and had to leave empty-handed against Phoenix.

Nguyen Quoc Nguyen played in game 3, losing with a score of 11/15 to Semih Sayginer. In the end, Hana Card lost 1-4 to Phoenix.

With this result, the Phoenix team won 3 full points and won the 2025-2026 PBA Team League round 2 championship. Meanwhile, Hana Card only finished in third place. Previously, Quoc Nguyen's team won the 1st round.
