Binh Duong takes striker who was once in the top 40 "young talents in the world"

(NLDO) - Binh Duong Club is taking steps to re-establish the position of "Vietnamese Chelsea" with a squad of new domestic players and strong investment towards the new season.

Binh Duong Club has just gathered to prepare for the 2024-2025 season, with at least 5 new domestic players. Most notably is midfielder Phan Thanh Hau - a face once ranked by The Guardian (UK) in the top 40 young talents in the world .

Born in 1997, Thanh Hau has played for Quang Nam for the past two seasons in the V-League. Although he possesses skillful techniques, his physical limitations (1.70 m tall) have prevented him from exploding as expected. Next season, Thanh Hau will likely be trusted by coach Nguyen Anh Duc to replace the position left by his senior Nguyen Hai Huy.

Previously, midfielder Hai Huy left Binh Duong after two seasons, playing a total of 36 matches, scoring 2 goals (one in V-League, one in National Cup).

In addition to Thanh Hau, Coach Anh Duc also recruited three other players including Cao Quoc Khanh, Vu Viet Trieu and Nguyen Trong Hung. These faces have all reached agreements, just waiting for the official debut date when the team organizes the departure ceremony.

With a young squad of rookies, Binh Duong Club, nicknamed "Chelsea Vietnam", promises to bring a new, more vibrant look next season.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Becamex IDC, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, also affirmed that he will invest heavily to help Binh Duong Club regain its former image as "Vietnamese Chelsea" and create a long-term youth foundation.

During its history, Binh Duong Club was once a leading force in Vietnamese football with a star-studded cast and an impressive collection of titles: 4 V-League championships (2007, 2008, 2014, 2015), 4 National Cups (2007, 2008, 2015, 2018) and 2 National Super Cups.

However, in the last three seasons, the team from the land of Thu has clearly declined and has continuously struggled in the relegation race. In the 2024-2025 season, despite a lot of investment and high expectations, Binh Duong only ranked 7th overall and stopped in the semi-finals of the National Cup after losing to SLNA.
