Lam Dong Provincial Police quickly discovered the case of a young man being held captive by a group of people for 3 days to collect debt.

On July 12, Lam Dong Provincial Police said that the Ministry of Public Security had just decided to give a special reward to the units that quickly discovered the case of a 24-year-old man who was arrested and detained for 3 days by a group of people to collect debt.

Accordingly, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long, Deputy Minister of Public Security, on behalf of the Minister of Public Security, signed a decision to suddenly reward the Criminal Police Department of Lam Dong Provincial Police with 20 million VND; the Office of the Investigation Police Agency and Ham Liem Commune Police (Lam Dong Province) each received 15 million VND.

Subjects involved in illegal detention to collect debt

Previously, at around 1 p.m. on July 1, Ham Liem Commune Police received a report from Ms. TTXC (53 years old, residing in Hamlet 3, Ham Liem Commune) that her son, LNVP (24 years old), was illegally detained by a group of people to collect debt.

Immediately after receiving the information, Ham Liem Commune Police quickly coordinated with the Criminal Police Department, the Office of Lam Dong Provincial Police Investigation Agency and related professional forces to urgently verify and investigate. By the afternoon of the same day, the police force quickly rescued the victim and arrested the related subjects.

Through initial investigation, the authorities identified the mastermind as Nguyen Le Hong Phu (25 years old, residing in Binh Thuan ward, Lam Dong province). Due to a conflict over personal debt, Phu planned to arrest Mr. P. to put pressure on the victim's family.

To carry out the act, Phu rented a car and invited 3 other people, including: Le Thi Do (25 years old), Nguyen Ha Phuoc An (18 years old) and Nguyen Dinh Duy (21 years old) to look for P.

On the evening of June 28, 2025, the group of subjects ambushed in front of the Le Gia gas station (Ham Liem commune). At about 10 p.m. the same day, when they saw Mr. P. sitting alone in a taxi, the group restrained, arrested and then took the victim to Phu's house. Here, Mr. P. was continuously detained for nearly 3 days, until he was rescued.
