Ministry of Education and Training revises and supplements some contents of History and Geography subjects

(NLDO) - The Ministry of Education and Training has revised the education program of the subjects History and Geography (primary and secondary school), Geography 12; History 10 and Civic Education 10.

The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has just issued Circular No. 17/2025/TT-BGDDT, dated September 12, amending and supplementing a number of contents in the General Education Program issued with Circular No. 32/2018/TT-BGDDT dated December 26, 2018 of the Minister of MOET.

The Ministry of Education and Training revises and supplements a number of contents in the General Education Program.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the National Assembly previously issued Resolution No. 202 on the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units and Resolution No. 203 on amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. To comply with the Constitution and Resolution of the National Assembly, the education program of the subjects History and Geography at primary and secondary levels; Geography for grade 12; History for grade 10 and Civic Education for grade 10 ( Economic and Legal Education) needs to be revised.

The Ministry of Education and Training has organized research to develop the program, revise and supplement the Education Program of the above subjects according to the current regulations. The draft revised and supplemented Program has been consulted with teachers, ministries, branches and experts. To date, the revised and supplemented Program has been issued. The revised content focuses on the following contents:

For History and Geography subjects at Primary and Secondary levels, Geography subject for grade 12: revise and supplement contents related to socio-economic regions such as production territory organization of some economic sectors, socio-economic regional boundaries; names and number of provinces and cities in the region, area size, population of the region; economic development resources, development situation, distribution of economic sectors in the regions and some other contents to ensure logic in implementation.

For the Civic Education program: amend and supplement the 10th grade program on the topic "Political system of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam" and the topic "Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam".

For History: amend and supplement the Selected Study Topic in grade 10 (topic "Vietnamese State and Law in History").

The Ministry of Education and Training said that in the 2025-2026 school year, educational institutions will continue to use selected textbooks; at the same time, they will organize reviews and direct professional teams and teachers to adjust materials in lessons and topics to suit the rearrangement of provincial-level administrative units, the organization of two-level local governments and the amended and supplemented contents of the Constitution.

In the coming time, the Ministry of Education and Training will organize training courses to guide managers and teachers in implementation; including guiding teachers to proactively adjust the content of lectures, ensuring accuracy, updating and suitability to reality, especially for materials, data, maps, boundaries of socio-economic regions and administrative units. Organize teaching according to the revised curriculum, fully deploy additional content in History and Geography subjects at Primary and Secondary levels; Geography grade 12; History and Civic Education grade 10.
