Ministry of Agriculture agrees to convert 658 hectares of forest into 23 projects

The sent document stated that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development received document No. 8057/VPCPNN dated October 17, 2023 from the Government Office on the policy of converting forest use purposes to other purposes to implement projects serving socio-economic development, national defense and security.

After reviewing, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development assessed the dossiers of 23 projects to ensure sufficient basis and conditions for Government leaders to decide on the policy of changing the purpose of forest use to other purposes to implement projects according to the plans.

The total area of ​​forest use conversion for other purposes of 23 projects approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is 658 hectares, including natural forests, protective forests, and planted forests.

Among them, some projects have a large area of ​​forest land conversion. For example, the project connecting traffic in the Northern mountainous provinces (Lai Chau - Lao Cai - Yen Bai section) has an area of ​​forest land conversion of up to 106 hectares; the Truong Dong Lake project in Quang Nam province has an area of ​​nearly 103 hectares; the Yen Dung Golf Course and Service Investment Project in Bac Giang (phase 2) has an area of ​​forest land conversion of 77.2 hectares...

The remaining projects have an area of ​​forest use purpose change request from 0.55ha to 58.84ha.

Regarding the Krong Pach Thuong reservoir project (Dak Lak province), the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will review the documents and report to the Government Office later.

Binh Dinh converts 0.7 hectares of forest land to build a luxury resort 0.7 hectares of planted forest land in Cat Hai commune (Phu Cat district, Binh Dinh) was converted to build the Ban Mai luxury resort and eco-tourism area of ​​Ban Mai Company Limited.
