"Time and Witness": A collection of memoirs by 20th-century journalists

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Trong Lam, Director and Editor-in-Chief of the National Political Publishing House, Truth, on the occasion of the 98th anniversary of Vietnam's revolutionary press day, to honor journalists who have made great contributions to the revolutionary press, the Publishing House has published the book series Time and Witnesses (Memoirs of Journalists), consisting of 3 volumes edited by Professor Ha Minh Duc.

The book series is the result of the dedication of Professor, People's Teacher Ha Minh Duc and his colleagues for more than 10 years, recording the career journey, valuable journalism experiences, and memorable memories of more than 40 famous journalists in the Vietnamese press.

The book series includes 3 volumes, with more than 40 articles, focusing on portraying veteran journalists who have silently contributed to creating the face of Vietnam's revolutionary press. 43 journalists are introduced in the book series Time and Witnesses, most of whom were journalists active in the period from before the August Revolution in 1945 through the resistance war against French colonialism and American imperialism.

Volume I of the book series introduces portraits of 13 journalists: Quang Dam, Xich Dieu, To Hoai, Le Kim, Tran Ku, Tran Lam, Tran Cong Man, Vu Tu Nam, Do Phuong, Huu Tho, Xuan Thuy, Le Ba Thuyen, Ha Xuan Truong. Here, people encounter a Quang Dam with profound knowledge, dedicating his whole life to journalism, a Xich Dieu with many happy and sad memories in more than 60 years of journalism.

Or journalist Huu Tho with his concerns and thoughts about the profession that he has concluded is that one must "live life to the fullest and provide information and evaluation"... All are journalists who are passionate about their profession, devoted to people, full of courage, responsibility, and dare to face difficulties and challenges.

"By publishing the book series Time and Witnesses (Memoirs of Journalists), the Publishing House hopes to contribute to enriching the historical treasure of our country's journalism, spreading the precious values of revolutionary journalism to a wide range of readers, and showing gratitude to journalists who have made many contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation," Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Trong Lam emphasized.

Speaking at the book introduction, Professor Ha Minh Duc said, when I came up with the idea of writing memoirs, some journalists shared with me: What is the purpose of writing? Who will read it? Where will it be printed after it is finished? I have tried every way to give confidence to famous journalists to leave good values in the world, of course family, many relationships but in terms of journalistic activities, leave experience, that is what we have done and some students participated in taking notes of what the journalists said. Those are valuable documents, how to have a memoir of 20th century journalists.

Professor, Dr. Ta Ngoc Tan, former member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, former Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, former Director of the Academy of Journalism and Communication, said that the book is a very valuable story, highly appreciated by everyone for its ideas as well as the difficult conditions to make it.
