Music lovers of Van Cao, Doan Chuan and Tu Linh will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the music of the musicians in the "Thien Thai" music night on the evening of April 27 at the Hanoi Opera House. Before the show, musician Doan Dinh, son of musician Doan Chuan, shared many anecdotes behind some of the late musician's compositions.
Musicians Van Cao - Doan Chuan - Tu Linh
In most of his compositions, musician Doan Chuan often signed the pen name Doan Chuan - Tu Linh. There are many anecdotes about the name Doan Chuan - Tu Linh. Some people believe that Tu Linh was Doan Chuan's close friend, the composer, the lyricist and the co-signer.
However, musician Doan Dinh said that once, Guitar musician Van Vuong told him: "Dinh, your father told me, "Tu Linh" is the first and last name of Thanh Hang (TH)". Thanh Hang is the girl musician Doan Chuan loved deeply, maybe he used that way to legitimize his lover's name.
"My father did not tell me those things. But anyway, Doan Chuan - Tu Linh is already a very beautiful name, so don't go looking for who Doan Chuan is or who Tu Linh is. My father only told us: My children, all my compositions are my love diary" - musician Doan Dinh said.
Referring to Thanh Hang, his father's muse, Doan Dinh shared two more anecdotes linking the image of this beauty with his father's compositions.

"My father loved my mother and lived with her all his life, but only wrote two songs for her, while he loved a famous and beautiful singer in Hanoi at that time named Thanh Hang and wrote six songs for her.
When my mother heard about the incident in Hai Phong, she immediately took a car to Hanoi . Everyone thought there would be a big fight, but unexpectedly my mother gently asked: "I'm asking you honestly, do you love Doan Chuan?". Thanh Hang answered yes. She continued: "If you love Mr. Chuan 1, I love Mr. Chuan 10, I'm willing to give Mr. Chuan to you. If you love my Doan Chuan, then try to love his six children."
So Thanh Hang woke up and returned all their letters to my mother and tore up the songs my father gave her. That's why my father wrote the song "The Torn Song". Later, when he heard that Thanh Hang was getting married, my father wrote and sent her the song "Leaves Falling in a Thousand Afternoons". After receiving my father's song, she cried and refused to get married again" - musician Doan Dinh said.
Doan Dinh also said that his father was a famous Northern playboy, with six cars in the house and a private gas station in front of the house to serve him. In the house, he hired workers to build a separate room filled with balloons on the ceiling, and when any balloon deflated, he would have his family buy more balloons to make room for entertaining friends. Guests could come and enjoy music, fruits, foreign wine, etc.

Explaining the decision to combine the compositions of the late musician Van Cao and Doan Chuan - Tu Linh in one music night, singer Ngoc Cham, the program's production director, said: "The two late musicians have certain things in common: These are two musicians from the same period: Van Cao (1923 - 1995) and Doan Chuan - Tu Linh (1924 - 2001) had the same composition period, and had immortal compositions from 1939 - 1970.
The combination of the compositions of the two musicians is an opportunity to revive the youthful memories of many generations of audiences. The two musicians are both talented and famous giants of Vietnamese modern music. The songs of the above musicians are all full of philosophy, philosophical but romantic, very luxurious and noble, especially lyrical songs such as: Truong Chi, Suoi Mo, Thien Thai, Sending wind to fly clouds, Autumn charm... Moreover, the combined name "Van Cao - Doan Chuan - Tu Linh" sounds very rhymed, stylized very poetically, easy to read, easy to remember, easy to touch people's hearts".
