Then I wondered, if I were there, what drink would I order?

Of course, it will be black iced coffee without sugar.

I probably would never have known how good and special coffee could be if it weren't for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Before the pandemic, my busy, hurried life kept me going. Even when I went to a coffee shop, the hustle and bustle was evident in the way I ordered my drinks. I ordered whatever was quick and convenient. So coffee was never my choice.

But when the pandemic hit, I changed.

During the days of staying at home to fight the epidemic, at first I simply made coffee to kill time, letting the aroma of coffee spread to help lift my spirits. Over time, for me, making coffee every morning has become a habit, a passion and almost a ritual…

When the last drop of coffee falls, I take the cup of coffee to sit in the corner of the working room by the window, take small sips, gradually feel the bitter taste on the tip of my tongue, then the sweetness, enjoy the gentle aroma spreading, my mind wanders with the clear sounds of the early morning.

And I thought to myself, if the pandemic hadn't happened, would I ever have heard this sound; would I have known that coffee could taste so good?

Just like that, I went through the epidemic season with a light and calm mind.

Now, coffee is like a close friend to me. I live slower, love myself more. And still keep the habit during the pandemic.

My new day starts with a cup of "Robusta 100%" black coffee with ice and no sugar. Every time I take a sip of coffee, I remember the morning sunlight shining through the crack in the window, and the chirping of sparrows on the porch, of those epidemic days...
