Localities proactively deploy medical work in disaster prevention and control

The Ministry of Health has just sent a document to the Department of Health of the mountainous and midland provinces of the North and North Central regions; and units under the Ministry of Health in the North and Central regions on proactive medical work to respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters during the 2025 storm and flood season.

The document of the Ministry of Health clearly stated that, implementing the Prime Minister's dispatches on focusing on overcoming the consequences of floods in Son La and Dien Bien provinces and responding to landslides and flash floods in the mountainous and midland provinces of the North; to be proactive in responding to and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property; the Ministry of Health requested the Departments of Health of the mountainous, midland provinces of the North, North Central and units under the Ministry of Health in the North and Central regions to continue to strictly implement the directives of the Government, the Prime Minister; the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense; the Ministry of Health and related documents on implementing measures to respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters, especially in the provinces that suffered heavy damage after the recent floods, flash floods and landslides.

The Ministry of Health is requested to coordinate with localities to inspect and review unsafe medical facilities in areas at risk of landslides during heavy rains; proactively organize the relocation and evacuation of medical facilities in low-lying areas with high risk of flooding, flash floods, and landslides, ensuring the safety of people and medical staff, especially during floods.

The authorities coordinate to organize environmental sanitation, prevent and control epidemics, ensure clean water, ensure food safety due to floods; arrange and stabilize medical examination and treatment facilities, ensure medical examination and treatment for people after floods. Localities synthesize reports on damage and propose to the Ministry of Health the local health care needs (if any). The Ministry of Health requests the Department of Health of the provinces and units under the Ministry of Health to seriously and urgently implement.
