US Commerce Secretary: American businesses are 'running out' of patience with China.

The world's two largest economies used to be each other's biggest trading partners, but Washington now trades more with its neighbors Canada and Mexico, while Beijing trades more with Southeast Asia.

During a recent visit to China, Secretary Raimondo stressed that American businesses are eager to promote a productive relationship, and while some actions by the Chinese government are positive, the reality needs to match those statements.

“China is making things more difficult… patience is wearing thin among American businesses. They need and deserve a predictable environment and a level playing field. Hopefully China will heed that message so we can have a stable and growing trade relationship,” Raimondo said in an interview with CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

According to Secretary Raimondo, American companies face new challenges, including large, unexplained fines, sanctions against businesses and changes to China's counterintelligence laws.

Ms. Raimondo also informed Beijing that her email account was hacked before her visit to China in late August.
