At the 2025 Men's Volleyball World Championship, there are a total of 6 Asian teams including the host Philippines, Japan, China, South Korea, Iran and Qatar. On the opening day of the tournament, the Philippines was "crushed" with a score of 0-3 (13-25, 17-25, 23-25) against Tunisia.
This was a predictable result, as the home team was too weak compared to the general level of the tournament. They got a ticket to participate in this playground simply because they won the right to host.
The Philippines' poor start inadvertently brought "bad luck" to the whole of Asia. After that, the remaining 5 teams suffered a fate not too different from the home team.
Japan, one of the strong teams in the tournament, played poorly and surprisingly lost 0-3 to Turkey (19-25, 23-25, 19-25). Japan's disciplined and resilient defense completely collapsed, even though this was their strongest point.
This "misstep" could cause them to return home early when they have to face a very strong opponent, Canada, in the next match.

Then, it was Qatar's turn to lose 1-3 (18-25, 23-25, 28-26, 23-25) to a very strong opponent, the Netherlands. Despite the defeat, the team from the Middle East fought more resiliently and persistently than Japan.
Qatar is also the first Asian team to win a set at this year's Men's Volleyball World Championship. After Qatar, it was Iran's turn to lose 1-3 (17-25, 25-16, 23-25, 20-25) to Egypt.
South Korea was the next victim, when they lost 0-3 (12-25, 18-25, 16-25) to France, the team that holds the record of 2 consecutive Olympic championships.
The last name from Asia to compete was China. Having to face a very strong Brazil, many people predicted that China would receive the same result as Korea. In fact, they only won 1 set, but still lost 1-3 (25-19, 23-25, 22-25, 21-25).
Thus, all 6 Asian teams have no points after the first round. In volleyball, a team that loses 0-3 or 1-3 gets no points; a team that loses 2-3 is "given" 1 point.
With heavy defeats, Asian representatives face the prospect of no team advancing.
