What happened to Mr. Trinh Van Quyet's Rolls-Royce supercars and yachts?

(Dan Tri) - Before being arrested, Mr. Trinh Van Quyet owned many yachts and luxury cars, but many of his assets were sold by the bank and passed to new owners.

Recently, the Board of Directors of FLC Group Joint Stock Company issued a resolution on transactions with a related party, FLC Faros Construction Joint Stock Company (ROS).

According to the report, FLC received a notice from BIDV in October 2024 that it had successfully sold the secured asset, the FLC Albatross yacht, for VND23.65 billion. After deducting mandatory expenses, BIDV collected the principal from the auction proceeds of VND22.8 billion.

FLC Albatross yacht was first put up for sale in November 2022 with a starting price of 36 billion VND, and by the 7th auction in January 2024, the price had dropped to 23,294 billion VND, nearly 13 billion VND lower than the original. However, after 7 auctions, the yacht still had no buyer and then the auction contract between BIDV Quy Nhon and Minh Phap Joint Stock Auction Company was liquidated.

This asset is linked to the debt settlement chain after former FLC Chairman Trinh Van Quyet was prosecuted and arrested for "manipulation" and "concealment of securities information", leading to a series of related assets being auctioned by banks to recover debts. Notably, there are 2 Rolls-Royce supercars.

First is the Rolls-Royce Ghost with many gold-plated details inside and out, once owned by former FLC Chairman Trinh Van Quyet. This luxury car was manufactured in 2011 in England and was one of the Rolls-Royces used by the luxury brand's distributor in Vietnam before reaching Mr. Quyet.

In October 2022, an auction company organized an auction of the car with a starting price of 10 billion VND. This is the collateral for the credit contract between FLC Faros Construction Joint Stock Company and BIDV Quy Nhon branch.

By April 2024, the owner of a private showroom in Hanoi told Dan Tri reporter that this car had been sold to someone in Dong Nai since April. The transfer price was not disclosed. Previously, after 5 unsuccessful auctions, the starting price for this car dropped to 8.587 billion VND. However, this price does not include notary fees, auctioned asset sale contract, and taxes, if any.

Another luxury car of Mr. Trinh Van Quyet has also been transferred to a new owner, the Rolls-Royce Phantom. This car was imported to Vietnam in 2015 under the official brand name. The unique super luxury car is one of 6 cars in the Dong Son Bronze Drum collection for the Vietnamese market.

This Rolls-Royce Phantom was previously used as collateral for FLC Land Company’s loan at Orient Commercial Bank (OCB). Last October, the bank announced that it had chosen an auction organization to sell it, with a starting price of over VND28 billion.

However, the bank continuously lowered the price of the car. At the 7th auction in May 2023, the car found a buyer, after lowering the price to 16.6 billion VND, a decrease of 11.4 billion VND compared to the first auction.

In addition, the former Chairman of FLC also owned a luxury car, the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman, a "rare" car in Vietnam. This car model was favored by many heads of state...

According to insiders, only two Maybach S600 Pullmans were brought back to the country. Of these, one white one was spotted in Ho Chi Minh City and the other black one is owned by Mr. Trinh Van Quyet.

In addition to supercars and yachts, in November 2023, an auction company also announced the auction of 84 villas in the FLC Eco-tourism Urban Area in Sam Son City (now Sam Son Ward), Thanh Hoa Province with a starting price of more than VND 494 billion, lower than the starting price of VND 610 billion given in early September 2023. The auctioned assets are a guarantee for FLC Group's debt at Orient Commercial Joint Stock Bank (OCB).
