Ha Long International Passenger Port resumes operations from September 10

According to Mr. Pham Van Hiep, Director of Ha Long International Passenger Port, immediately after the storm passed, the unit put all its efforts into repairing and reinforcing some damaged items, clearing fallen trees, and checking facilities, equipment, machinery, and the port system.

To date, piers 1 and 2 have been operating normally, ensuring safe operations. Many cruise ships have returned to anchor at the port after temporarily migrating to avoid the storm.

Previously, due to storm No. 3 making landfall, Ha Long International Passenger Port was forced to temporarily close. The port has been taking measures to prevent natural disasters and storms since September 5.

Currently, Quang Ninh has passed the peak tourist season, the number of visitors to Ha Long Bay has reached nearly 50% compared to the peak in June and July. Ha Long City has just suffered heavy damage due to the storm, many tourism businesses have had their operations interrupted.

The recovery work is expected to last for several more weeks. In parallel with the reopening to welcome visitors, Ha Long International Passenger Port is making efforts to repair the remaining damage in order to prepare the best facilities to welcome the international tourist season visiting the bay by cruise ship starting next October.

On September 10, the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province informed that storm No. 3 killed 9 people (an increase from the initial information of 3 people), including 1 person in Cam Pha city and 8 people in Ha Long city.

In Quang Ninh, storm No. 3 with strong winds caused widespread power and water outages. Telecommunications were almost paralyzed and have not been restored yet, causing difficulties for leadership, management, direct command, and communication of information about the storm and measures to cope with post-storm circulation for the people. At times, some localities lost contact for a long time, such as Binh Lieu district, Quang Yen town...

Storm No. 3 caused great damage to Quang Ninh, including large projects such as Quang Ninh Museum, Provincial Planning - Fair - Exhibition Palace... According to preliminary statistics, 6 households were flooded, 20,245 houses had their roofs blown off; 21 water transport vehicles, 23 tourist boats, 41 fishing boats of all kinds sank or drifted; over 2,402 aquaculture facilities were damaged; 1,273 hectares of rice and crops were downed, flooded, and affected; 17,223 hectares of forest were affected in 8 localities; 1,403 electric poles were broken... Many high-rise buildings, agency headquarters, schools were damaged, and the infrastructure of coastal industrial parks in Quang Yen town was damaged on a large scale. Some locations had flooded roads, slopes collapsed, and signs and lighting systems were broken and damaged. The transport sector is continuing to count the damage.

From 12 noon on September 7, storm No. 3 made landfall, causing heavy rain, wind, and tornadoes, causing widespread power outages. BTS stations were damaged, fiber optic cables were broken, leading to loss of information and communication throughout the province (Viettel and Mobiphone lost connection completely). Vinapone maintained operations in 11/13 district, town, and city centers, with about 50% coverage remaining in residential areas.

It is expected that by September 12, the mobile information networks of network operators will basically be operational again in the entire province; however, other telecommunications services such as the internet will need more time to be completely restored.
