In preparation for the G7 Summit to be held in Hiroshima, Japan from May 19-21, starting today, some normal activities in the Summit area will be restricted. At the same time, security measures will be strengthened in Hiroshima city and some surrounding islands.
Hundreds of police officers from all over Japan are being mobilized to Hiroshima, specifically deployed at locations and areas related to the Conference. Local firefighting and rescue forces are also being mobilized. Tomorrow, Osaka will dispatch more than 80 rescue personnel, 14 vehicles and 1 rescue plane to Hiroshima. Forces from some other localities such as Kyushu city have been sent to Hiroshima since this afternoon.

Transportation was also re-arranged on the days of the summit. Due to concerns that explosives could be placed in toll-free luggage boxes, luggage boxes were closed to visitors from May 15, especially those at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, where G7 leaders will lay flowers in memory of the victims of the 1945 atomic bombing.
On Ujina Island, where the conference will take place, and downtown Hiroshima, police will be deployed 24 hours a day to ensure security. Since Ujina Island is 5 km from downtown Hiroshima, maritime security forces and helicopters will be deployed from May 18-22.
To guard against terrorist risks, not only in Hiroshima, 26 crowded stations in Tokyo such as Shibuya, Ginza, Ueno... will also be deployed with security forces, and public luggage storage services at the stations will be limited. In the history of the G7 Summit, in 2005 in London, England, there was a terrorist bombing at the London station area, although the main Conference was held in Scotland at that time. Japan pledged to ensure security for the Conference to be a success.
Meanwhile, the relevant G7 Ministerial Conferences have also ended. Japan is urgently preparing important contents to be discussed and agreed upon at the Conference.
