Every hour, every minute, in hospitals, there are still hundreds of patients who need blood and are looking for blood for emergency treatment. In that dire situation, the light of human love - from the hearts of blood donors has become a miracle of resurrection. No words can fully describe the emotions of families whose loved ones are fighting for their lives, when they receive warm blood from strangers.
That is probably true for the family of Ha Anh Son (Nam Xuan commune). Born not as lucky as other children, he was born with congenital hemolytic anemia. Poverty and hardships have always followed his family because every month, the grandfather and grandson go to the hospital together to treat the disease. Not only do they have to worry about the money for treatment, travel and food expenses, but each time, the family also has to struggle to find blood.
When he was admitted to the hospital in July 2025, he was weaker and had a fever, so he needed a lot of blood transfusion. In the moment he was getting weaker, the blood drops from the volunteers were like a wind that fanned the “spark of life” that was smoldering inside.
Touched and grateful for the connection and help of "loving strangers", Son's family posted a thank you message on the fanpage and social networks. The sincere thanks came from simple, honest words but contained infinite gratitude: "My family thanks all the uncles, brothers, sisters, and siblings who connected me so that I could have the chance to meet the person who donated blood to save my life."
Will the giver and receiver ever have the chance to meet each other? But surely they are connected - connected for a simple but noble reason: happiness is giving.
No more dazed eyes, panicked faces looking for blood to treat their child, but instead, there are smiles from Lang Tien Tuyen's family when he has blood to treat his illness in time. And, after all the hardships, the family sent their thanks to the person who extended his life with pictures of the blood donor: "Thank you, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hung, for not minding the long distance, taking time from work to come and donate blood for me. My family wishes you and your family good health."
Patiently scrolling to the last photo makes the reader surprised and moved by the heartwarming coincidence. Not only once, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hung donated blood twice to a seriously ill child who needed an urgent transfusion by chance.
Unable to help but be curious about this story of giving and receiving, scrolling through the comments, a never-ending love story unfolded. They gave each other so many loving gestures and kind words. The family said they were very touched when the blood donor also sent a gift to the child. The photo of the child hugging a bear (the person receiving the blood), with an IV needle in his hand, a smile still shining on his pale face - as if all the pain was soothed by the humane presence of kind strangers.
In a touching handwritten letter, Ms. Hoang Thi Toan, from Trieu Son, wrote these choked lines of gratitude: “A drop of blood from volunteers has warmed the hearts of those in difficult circumstances with this fatal disease. It brings joy and vitality so that we can try to overcome our fate...”.
The simple words, the trembling handwriting were written with both determination and faith. Because they received not only blood, but the donors also sent a belief. A hope. A silent message: "You are not alone in this fight".
Personal accounts posted on the group thank you messages with photos of people sharing with gentle smiles, sitting on blood transfusion chairs, making many people stop for a few seconds. Stop to think, to believe that happiness comes from simple things, happiness is giving.
To have that moment sitting on the blood donation chair, strangers silently traveled day and night, moving for hours, waiting to withdraw their blood drops with the hope that others could live longer. That smile seemed to affirm that: Humanitarian blood donation does not discriminate against age or gender. Blood donation is a great way for us to express gratitude for life, share life and connect, spread love.
Somewhere, in hospital mailboxes, on late-night Facebook walls, in social networking groups or personal diaries... those silent messages, words of thanks, and sharing still remind and convey the message of a journey that never ends. Because, each drop of blood donated not only gives life to a person but also ignites thousands of beliefs in the good things in life.
And finally, we - the people who connect this story, just want to say that: Red Journey - Thanh Hoa Red Blood Drops is ready to receive volunteer blood drops.
The "Red Journey" program in 2025 in Thanh Hoa was launched from June 10 to July 20, with the peak period from July 1 to July 20.
