From the old forests along the Truong Son trail in the past, the soldiers wrote an immortal epic in the cause of national liberation. When peace was restored, they returned to normal life, carrying with them the memories of a time of war and fire. Although their hair had turned gray and their health had declined, the camaraderie, discipline and beautiful ideals of life continued to be preserved and spread through the humane activities of the Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail Tradition Association in Thai Nguyen province.

Exemplary in life, active for the community

The Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail Traditional Association of Thai Nguyen province was established in 2012, is the common home of veterans who participated in the fight and served in the fight on the legendary Truong Son route. Up to now, the Association has over 1,800 members.

Since its inception, the Association has identified building a strong organization as a core and continuous task. In that spirit, the Association at all levels has constantly strengthened its organization, diversified its activities, and ensured that its activities are both practical and close, suitable to the actual situation and conditions of its members.

Over the years, the emulation movement “Exemplary Truong Son Veterans” has spread strongly, becoming a driving force for members to set good examples in all areas of social life. From strictly implementing the Party’s policies and the State’s laws, to participating in building cultural life in residential areas and the new rural construction movement, members of the Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail Tradition Association of Thai Nguyen province have always been pioneers and dedicated.

The clearest evidence is that in the process of building new rural areas in localities, many members were willing to donate land, dismantle constructions to expand rural roads, build cultural houses, and public works. In total, members voluntarily donated more than 5,200 square meters of land, an impressive number reflecting the sense of responsibility to the community of those who have fought and died for the country.

At the same time, the Association has actively mobilized social resources to organize charitable activities and support members in difficult circumstances. Since the beginning of the term, the Association has visited and given gifts to more than 300 sick members, donated 26 wheelchairs, and supported Tet gifts for 55 Lao students studying in Thai Nguyen province.

Not only providing material support, the Association also focuses on taking care of its members’ spirit and educating the younger generation about tradition. Cultural and artistic exchanges, traditional talks, and pilgrimages to old battlefields have contributed to extending the memory thread between the past and the present.

The Truong Son Literature and Arts Club of the province has established 10 mass art teams, regularly organizing festivals and performances to serve the people, especially in remote communes. In the past two years, 16 performances have been held, bringing a warm atmosphere, full of camaraderie and evoking national pride in the hearts of the people.

In addition, the Association also coordinates with local schools to organize historical education sessions on Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh trail, helping students better understand the great sacrifices of their fathers and brothers in the resistance war, thereby fostering patriotism and a sense of responsibility for their homeland and country.

One of the emotional activities is the program of revisiting old battlefields organized periodically. The trips not only help members find memories, but also are an opportunity to review the camaraderie, reminding each other to continue to live usefully and beautifully like the years in Truong Son.

With its positive contributions, the Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail Tradition Association of Thai Nguyen province has been honored many times. From 2023 to July 2025, the Association was honored to receive 9 Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee (including 4 collectives and 5 individuals); the Central Association awarded 2 Emulation Flags and 7 Certificates of Merit; along with many Certificates of Merit from all levels and sectors.

This is not only a worthy recognition for the tireless efforts of all members, but also a motivation for the Association to continue to innovate and create in its methods of operation, more suitable to the requirements of the new era.

Entering the 2025-2030 term, the Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail Traditional Association of Thai Nguyen province determined to continue improving the quality of organization and expanding the network of members. Along with that, the Association will focus on developing the Truong Son Business Club, creating an environment to support each other in economic development and improving the lives of members.

The activities of the Truong Son Provincial Literature and Arts Club will also be expanded, with renewed content and form to become more closely connected with the cultural and spiritual life of the people. At the same time, propaganda and education on traditions will continue to be promoted, especially targeting the youth, who will continue the ideals of the Truong Son generation of the past.

In the flow of national history, the Truong Son trail is forever a symbol of bravery, indomitable spirit and solidarity between the army and the people. The members of the Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail Tradition Association of Thai Nguyen province today are the ones who continue that source, with affection and concrete, practical actions. They quietly cultivate good values, deepening the depth of humanity in modern society with their hearts and every step.
