Consumer price index in April in Nghe An province decreased slightly

In April 2024, people's demand for goods and services decreased compared to the previous month; food prices decreased due to the decrease in rice export prices and abundant supply. These are the main reasons for the CPI in April 2024 to decrease by 0.04% compared to the previous month.

Compared to the same period in 2023, CPI in April increased by 6.39%, average CPI in the first 4 months of 2024 increased by 5.76% over the same period.

Of the 11 main commodity and service groups, 4/11 commodity groups had price indexes decreasing compared to the previous month, including: Food and catering services decreased by 0.76%; Clothing, hats, footwear decreased by 0.39%; Post and telecommunications decreased by 0.34%; Beverages and tobacco decreased by 0.23%.

Five out of 11 commodity groups had price indexes increasing compared to the previous month: Transportation increased by 1.83%; Housing, electricity, water and construction materials increased by 0.22%; Culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 0.14%; Other goods and services increased by 0.07%; Household equipment and appliances increased by 0.05%.

There are 2 groups that did not increase or decrease compared to the previous month: Medicine and medical services; Education .

On average, in the first 4 months of 2024, the consumer price index increased by 5.76% over the same period last year. 11/11 groups of goods increased, including: Housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials increased by 20.79%; Medicines and medical services increased by 5.57%; Other goods and services increased by 5.33%; Food and catering services increased by 3.92%; Transportation decreased by 3.78%; Beverages and tobacco increased by 3.1%; Culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 2.22%; Education increased by 1.31%; Household equipment and utensils increased by 0.98%; Clothing, hats and footwear increased by 0.93% and Post and telecommunications increased by 0.3%.

The gold price index in April 2024 increased by 25.57% compared to the previous month, and by 42.44% over the same period. The average price for the first four months of 2024 increased by 19.06% over the same period. Domestic gold prices fluctuated in the same direction as world gold prices.

The US Dollar Index increased by 0.78% over the previous month and by 3.1% over the same period. The average for the first four months of 2024 increased by 0.39% over the same period.

Total retail sales of goods and consumer services revenue of Nghe An in April 2024 is estimated at 11,273.4 billion VND, equal to 72.58% compared to the previous month, up 25.75% over the same period last year. Accumulated for the first 4 months of 2024, total retail sales of goods and consumer services are estimated at 51,808.9 billion VND, up 42.25% over the same period in 2023.
