The Tu Phong Intergenerational Self-Help Club was established in January 2025 with 60 members, aiming to create opportunities for the poor, near-poor and disadvantaged, especially the elderly, to improve their quality of life.

The club has carried out many activities such as: Health care; cultural, artistic and sports exchanges; raising awareness and knowledge about the rights and roles of the elderly; increasing income, economic development... The club has supported 15 members to borrow capital for economic development and achieved positive results.
During the visit, delegates attended the Club's regular meeting; discussed the results and implementation of upcoming activities; visited the home health care model and the economic development model for the elderly... Thereby, delegates had a realistic view of the club's activities; shared experiences and difficulties that need to be overcome for sustainable operation, development and continued replication of the model.

The Tu Phong neighborhood intergenerational self-help club is a model of the project "Supporting disadvantaged elderly people through replicating intergenerational self-help clubs in Vietnam (phase 2)" sponsored by the Korea International Cooperation Agency through HelpAge Korea.
The project is implemented by HelpAge International in Vietnam (abbreviated as "HAI") in coordination with the Representative Board and Association of the Elderly of 6 provinces and cities including: Hanoi , Phu Tho, Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Bac Ninh and Ninh Binh.
The project will be implemented from December 2022 to November 2025 with the following main objectives: Increasing income, improving health and participation of disadvantaged elderly people through supporting the establishment and capacity building of intergenerational self-help clubs; improving capacity for the Association of the Elderly at all levels on how to establish, manage and operate intergenerational self-help clubs; mobilizing official resources to support and replicate the model.
In Bac Ninh , the project helped to expand 27 more intergenerational self-help clubs, directly benefiting 1,485 elderly people and people in difficult circumstances.
