Accordingly, in the late afternoon, the National Assembly Standing Committee presented the National Assembly with a list of nominees for the National Assembly to elect the President. After that, the National Assembly discussed in groups the list of nominees for the National Assembly to elect the President.

According to the program, by tomorrow morning, May 22, the National Assembly Standing Committee will report on the explanation and acceptance of opinions of National Assembly deputies discussed at the Delegation on the nomination list for the National Assembly to elect the President (if any).

The National Assembly will discuss and vote on the list to elect the President. At the same time, the President will be elected by secret ballot.

The National Assembly will discuss and vote to pass the Resolution to elect the President. After that, the President will take the oath of office and deliver his inaugural speech.

The person introduced by the Central Committee for the National Assembly to elect to hold the position of President is General To Lam, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security .

After the closing session of the 9th Central Conference of the 13th tenure (morning of May 18, 2024), key leaders met to listen to the assessment of the country's work situation in the recent past and focused on giving directions to deploy work in the coming time according to the conclusions of the 9th Central Conference of the 13th tenure.

At the meeting, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong congratulated the Central Committee on its high consensus in recommending Mr. To Lam, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, to be elected by the 15th National Assembly to hold the position of President.
