National Assembly Chairman attends AIPA Executive Committee meeting, highlights ASEAN Parliaments' adaptability

Within the framework of his official visit to Indonesia and participation in the 44th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-44), on the afternoon of August 6, in the capital Jakarta, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue attended the AIPA Executive Committee meeting.

At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and leaders of the countries' parliaments discussed and approved the program of activities of the 44th AIPA General Assembly; the topics and agenda of the AIPA Women Parliamentarians' Conference, the AIPA Young Parliamentarians' Conference and the Political Committee, Economic Committee, Social Committee, Organization Committee, Dialogue with Observers; and the time and venue of the 45th AIPA General Assembly.

The main theme of the 44th AIPA General Assembly is “Responsive Parliaments for a Stable and Prosperous ASEAN”. This theme is linked and consistent with the general theme of ASEAN this year, “One ASEAN of stature: The heart of growth”, which highlights the adaptability of ASEAN Parliaments in the context of many regional and international fluctuations, emphasizes dialogue and consultation, enhances coordination between legislative and executive channels, contributing to strengthening solidarity and the central role of ASEAN.

At the AIPA Executive Committee meeting, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and leaders of the National Assemblies and Parliaments of the countries highly appreciated the choice of the theme of the 44th AIPA General Assembly, reflecting the consistent message of AIPA as well as the desire of the host country Indonesia, ASEAN Chair and AIPA 2023 President to promote the role of ASEAN, AIPA and AIPA member parliaments in promoting peace, security, enhancing resilience and sustainable, inclusive development of the region to make ASEAN the center of growth, leaving no one behind.
