National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Vice Chairman of the Lao National Assembly

According to a special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, on the afternoon of September 18, in the capital Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), on the sidelines of the 46th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-46), National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Vice Chairman of the Lao National Assembly Sounthone Xayachack.

At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man thanked Laos for sending a high-ranking delegation led by Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith to attend the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of Vietnam on September 2; and for the Lao military force to participate in the parade at the event, contributing to the success of the celebration and considering this a vivid demonstration of the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man congratulated Laos on the great and comprehensive achievements it has made in recent times and affirmed that Vietnam consistently gives top priority to the special solidarity relationship with Laos; always stands side by side and strongly and comprehensively supports the cause of innovation, protection and construction of Laos.

Once again warmly congratulating Vietnam on successfully organizing the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, Vice President of the Lao National Assembly Sounthone Xayachack emphasized that over the past 80 years, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people have gained independence, freedom, and national unification and achieved many remarkable achievements in socio-economic development, improving people's lives. Vice President of the National Assembly Sounthone Xayachack hoped that the two National Assemblies would cooperate closely and support the two Governments in implementing agreements and projects between the two Governments and localities.

In an atmosphere of solidarity and friendship, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man shared that 2025 is the final year of the 13th National Party Congress, Vietnam has been implementing many important tasks to soon complete the major goals set. At the 9th Session of the 15th National Assembly, the Vietnamese National Assembly reviewed, commented and decided on many contents of historical significance, closely linked to the requirements of innovation, institutional improvement, and streamlining of the apparatus, which is an important milestone in the history of constitutional and legislative work in Vietnam.

The two leaders expressed their delight at the fact that the cooperative relationship between the two countries and the two National Assemblies has been increasingly consolidated, maintained closely, effectively and practically; and closely coordinated in implementing the contents of the Cooperation Agreement between the two National Assemblies. The two sides highly appreciated the Editorial Board of the book "50 years of relations between the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the National Assembly of the Lao PDR - Comprehensive cooperation for development" of the National Assemblies of the two countries for their efforts and active coordination, basically completing the compilation and publication in 2025 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of cooperative relations between the National Assemblies of the two countries.

The two leaders agreed on a number of key cooperation areas in the coming time, including continuing to deepen political relations, cooperating on strategic issues; strengthening economic connectivity, and cooperation in the fields of trade, energy, and logistics. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man suggested that Laos continue to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to invest in Laos. The two sides also agreed to increase information exchange and share experiences on new issues in Party building, building the political system, streamlining the apparatus, including the National Assembly apparatus; and increase people-to-people exchanges, especially with the younger generation, to continue the tradition, preserve and foster the special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, forever green and sustainable.

Regarding the relationship between the two National Assemblies, the two leaders agreed to promote delegation exchanges, increase contacts and exchanges between the National Assembly's specialized committees and National Assembly deputies within the bilateral and multilateral framework; share legislative experience, supervise and decide on strategic issues; coordinate to supervise the implementation of key investment cooperation projects and bilateral agreements.
The two sides agreed to continue close coordination at international and regional forums, especially within the framework of the United Nations and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
