Born and raised in Hanoi , Trang chose Ho Chi Minh City as her place to study and work. Sharing the reason for her attachment to this land, Trang said: "I want to go far away from home to change my living and studying environment. Moreover, the major I want to study in Ho Chi Minh City has many training schools and higher career opportunities."

To get that near-perfect score, Trang set a clear learning goal right from her first year. "When I was admitted to the school, I received a full scholarship. If I wanted to maintain that scholarship for 4 years, my cumulative GPA had to be above 3.6. Therefore, my goal was to get a high score to keep the scholarship. Once I had a goal, achieving what I wanted would be easier," Trang shared.

Trang's secret to studying is to always spend time reading and studying the textbooks at home so that when she comes to class, she can easily grasp the knowledge. Besides, Trang also said that she should study so that she understands and makes that knowledge her own to be effective.

Trang shared that during her four years at university, she had never been absent from class. "I was afraid of losing points for my attendance, and if I didn't go to class for a day, I would miss out on a lot of knowledge," Trang said. Thanks to her diligence and hard work, Trang achieved a perfect score of 4.0 in most of her subjects, except for one subject which was 3.5.

Looking at those study results, it seems like Trang only spends time burying herself in books, but every day she only spends about 2 hours studying. "Except for subjects that require English textbooks, which will take a lot of time to read and understand. The rest of the time, I only spend about 2 hours studying every day," Trang said.

Balance between study and work

Trang shared that during her first two years of university, she did not focus on working part-time but instead enrolled in some extra courses. "In my first year of university, I did not work part-time but devoted all my time to studying. In the first two years, I enrolled in more courses so that in the final year, my study schedule would be more relaxed and I would have more time to focus on my thesis," Trang said.

From the second semester of her second year, Trang started working part-time at restaurants and hotels. The experience she learned was that she shouldn't rush to work part-time from her first year. "The first year of moving from high school to university, changing the environment and learning method, so it takes time to adapt. Therefore, at first, you shouldn't work part-time right away but just focus on studying. After you feel like you've adapted to everything and have free time, then work part-time to gain experience," Trang shared.

For Van Trang, studying is always the top priority.

‏While working in a job that is not related to her major, this girl also shared that she should choose a part-time job related to her major. This will help her earn income, gain experience, and see if she is suitable for that job or not. If not, she can change early so that she does not have to struggle in her final year. ‏

"For example, if I study hotel management but want to switch to marketing, while I quit my old job to find a new one, I need to adjust my CV and take short courses. This will help to improve my CV and also be a test to see if I am suitable for that industry," Trang said.
