Hanoi FC extends winless streak

On the evening of September 20, Hanoi Club was held to a 1-1 draw by The Cong - Viettel at Hang Day Stadium in round 4 of V-League 2025 - 2026.

The rematch with The Cong - Viettel after the defeat in the National Cup was also the occasion for Hanoi FC to introduce interim coach Yusuke Adachi. After more than half an hour of tug-of-war, Hanoi opened the score.

In the 36th minute, captain Nguyen Van Quyet pierced the opponent's defense, putting Pham Tuan Hai face to face with goalkeeper Van Viet. The Vietnamese striker finished delicately, sending the ball lightly into the net, relieving the pressure on the home team.

At the end of the first half, Hanoi pressed the field but did not score another goal. At the beginning of the second half, The Cong - Viettel responded with an equalizer by Khuat Van Khang in the 54th minute, after an accurate through ball by Dinh Xuan Tien.

From then on, the two teams played a fierce game. Hanoi regretted missing two clear opportunities, both of which were brilliantly saved by Van Viet. Coach Popov's team also wasted many counter-attacks.

The two teams eventually drew 1-1. This was the second draw since the beginning of the season, extending Hanoi's 5-match winless streak, causing them to drop to 11th place in the V-League. Meanwhile, The Cong - Viettel remained firmly in the top 3 and maintained their chances of going far in the National Cup.

"Today's goal doesn't help the club much but it is a motivation for us to move forward on the long road ahead. The team has missed a lot in the last 4 matches. Personally, I also need to look back at myself.

Interim coach Adachi has only been working for 3 days, the two coaches' working methods are quite similar so we are not surprised," Pham Tuan Hai shared after the match.

In round 5 of V-League 2025 - 2026, Hanoi will host Thanh Hoa , a team in crisis and second from bottom of the table, on September 26.
