The Sun said the 47-year-old man, who was in a wheelchair, was arrested and charged with public disorder and racist behaviour. A stadium ban could be imposed if he is found guilty.
Liverpool officials stressed that they have zero tolerance for any type of racist crime and will actively coordinate with the club to seek stadium bans for violators.
For his part, Antoine Semenyo - the player who was racially abused - expressed his gratitude for the support of his teammates and the football community.
"The night at Anfield will stay with me forever, not because of the words of one individual, but because of the way the whole football family came together," said Semenyo.
In the 31st minute of Liverpool's 4-2 win over Bournemouth in the early Premier League match, Semenyo was racially abused by a Liverpool fan while taking a throw-in.
Semenyo later reported the incident to referee Anthony Taylor, causing the match to be halted.
The English Football Association (FA) immediately condemned the actions of Liverpool fans. The Anfield team also declared that they would not tolerate the fans who caused the incident.
