Opportunity for deaf candidates to continue pursuing their dreams

After learning that Dong Nai University was enrolling students for the Primary Education program for hearing-impaired students, Nguyen Huynh Tuan Anh, a former student of the Pedagogical Practice High School (affiliated with Dong Nai University), quickly registered and submitted his application. And great joy came to him when he received the admission notice.

Tuan Anh said: "After graduating from high school, I was very worried about what I would do because I had not received any vocational training in my previous studies. Therefore, when Dong Nai University organized the recruitment for the Primary Education Pedagogy major, I registered for admission because this was an opportunity for me to make my dream come true, to become a teacher for students with disabilities."

In fact, for many years now, Dong Nai University has organized classes from elementary to college for deaf students. However, due to some regulations, the school has had to temporarily suspend training from 2023.

Recently, based on Circular 06 of the Ministry of Education and Training on amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Regulations on university and college admissions for preschool education (issued on March 19, 2025), Dong Nai University has recruited students with disabilities by direct admission. As a result, up to now, 20 deaf students have met the requirements to be admitted to the Primary Education Pedagogy major. This is also a continuation of the success of the Deaf Education project of the Center for Research and Promotion of Deaf Culture (under Dong Nai University) implemented since 2014.

Dr. Vo Van Ly, Vice Principal of Dong Nai University, said: Because of many years of implementing educational programs for deaf students, the school also has favorable facilities. About 30% of the current teaching staff can teach in sign language. Those who do not meet the requirements will contract teachers to take charge of interpretation.

Dong Nai University is currently the first and only “address” in the country to organize regular university training in pedagogy for the deaf. Organizing training classes specifically for the disabled is an effort of the school, thereby adding motivation for the deaf to overcome their fate, develop themselves, pursue and make their dreams come true.
