At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, in the women's individual round of 32 archery, Do Thi Anh Nguyet lost to Ren Hayakawa (Japan) in the "golden arrow" round after a 5-5 draw after five rounds. At the 2024 Paris Olympics, the above scenario was repeated in the match between Anh Nguyet (ranked 70th in the world ) and Mobina Fallah (Iran, ranked 69th in the world). In the first round, both tied when they both scored 25 points after three arrows. In the second round, Mobina took the lead 3-1 when Nguyet had an arrow that only scored 7 points. In these two rounds, the Vietnamese archer had a heart rate of around 80-85, higher than her opponent - stable at around 75. In the third round, Anh Nguyet successfully equalized with exactly 1 point more than Mobina after 3 arrows.
In the fourth round, the Vietnamese archer's heart rate increased to more than 100 and she lost to her opponent with only 1 point after 3 arrows. In the fifth round, Anh Nguyet regained her composure to successfully tie the score 5-5. Entering the decisive "golden arrow" shot, although her heart rate increased to more than 145, Anh Nguyet still won 10 points 61mm from the bull's eye. But Mobina had a moment of inspiration with a 10-point arrow only 12.1mm from the bull's eye to win the overall victory and advance to the round of 16. This can be said to be an unfortunate result for Anh Nguyet. Because according to statistics from Worldarchery before the Olympics, she had 26 international matches (14 wins) and was in the top 20 in the world, while Mobina Fallah only had 9 international matches (3 wins).
Individual archery knockout matches are played in a five-round format. The archer wins 2 points, a draw 1 point, and a loss 0 points. Each round lasts 20 seconds. If the score is tied 5-5, the two archers go into a "golden arrow" round - the arrow closer to the center wins.
