(NADS) - For the first time, the Photography and Life Photo Contest with the theme "Beautiful moments around us" has created a "huge" number with nearly 4,000 works from 751 authors and millions of interactions from readers across the country.

On the morning of June 28, the Southern Representative Office of Photography and Life Magazine in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association organized the Award Ceremony and photo exhibition of the first Photography and Life contest with the theme "Beautiful moments around us" at the headquarters of the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association.

Delegates and organizers cut the ribbon to open the photo exhibition.

Attending the ceremony were journalist Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association ; journalist, artist Ho Sy Minh, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, Editor-in-Chief of Photography and Life Magazine, Head of the Competition Steering Committee; Lieutenant General Nguyen Duc Hai, former Commander of the 3rd Corps, former Director of the Institute of Strategy of the Ministry of National Defense; journalist, artist Doan Hoai Trung, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association, Co-Head of the Organizing Committee; journalist, artist Pham Tien Dung, former Editor-in-Chief of Photography and Life Magazine; journalist, artist Tran Duy Ngoan, former President of the Nghe An Provincial Journalists Association, Head of the North Central Representative Office of Photography and Life Magazine; artist Nguyen Hong Nga, member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association; journalist Thai Ngoc Son, Head of the Southern Representative Office of Photography and Life Magazine; Miss Nguyen Thuy Vi, Miss Idol Vietnam 2024; Miss Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, runner-up of Vietnam Idol 2024; leaders of representative offices of Photography and Life Magazine across the country; along with businessmen, artists and reporters.

At the ceremony, Editor-in-Chief Ho Sy Minh said: "Although the Photography and Life Contest was only held for the first time, it left many memorable impressions in the hearts of artists and readers near and far. The excellent works not only demonstrate the talent and creativity of photographers and readers of Photography and Life Magazine, but also bring new perspectives and profound messages about life, nature and Vietnamese people."

Journalist, Artist Ho Sy Minh, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, Editor-in-Chief of Photography and Life Magazine spoke at the ceremony.

Your enthusiasm and creativity are the great driving force for the success of the contest...", Editor-in-Chief Ho Sy Minh shared.

Speaking at the ceremony, journalist Thai Ngoc Son, Head of the Southern Representative Office of Photography and Life Magazine, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Contest, said that after one year of organization from June 17, 2023 to June 17, 2024, the Organizing Committee received 3,780 works from 751 authors, along with millions of interactions from readers across the country. In particular, there were works that achieved 14,000 likes, shares and comments on social networks.

Journalist Thai Ngoc Son, Head of the Southern Representative Office of Photography and Life Magazine, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Contest, delivered a speech summarizing the contest.

Previously, the Organizing Committee awarded 12 first prizes of the month to 12 authors with the highest scoring works of the month (60% of the score from the Jury and 40% of the score from readers' votes). 270 works with the highest scores of the month were selected for the final round to be considered for the exhibition and the annual award of the contest. After many rounds of selection, the Final Committee selected 50 works with the highest scores for exhibition, of which 7 of the best works won the annual award of the contest (1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes).

Journalist Thai Ngoc Son informed that this year, no work received a perfect score from the Jury, so the year's award did not have a work awarded the Special Prize of the Year. However, the Organizing Committee decided to add an additional award outside the rules - the "Work Most Favorite by Readers" award.

First Prize belongs to the work "Friendly" by author Hoang Van Phuoc.

Two second prizes were awarded to the works "Connection" by author Vu Van Lam and "The beauty of labor of the H'Mong Lenh people" by author Dinh Khanh Nam.

Third Prizes went to the works " Tourist rickshaw" by Dang Hong Long, "Discovering Krong No volcanic cave" by Nguyen Quoc Huy and "Joy of wedding day" by Nguyen Minh Tuan.

The award for "Most Favorite Work" belongs to "Sweet Rice Fragrance" by Pham Minh Tuan, with 13,598 favorite votes from readers.

The first Photography and Life Contest has left many memorable impressions, not only because of the number of entries but also because of the quality and creativity in each photo. The entries have brought new and profound perspectives on life, nature and people of Vietnam.

Editor-in-Chief Ho Sy Minh presented Certificates of Merit to the two Heads of the Organizing Committee and the Southern Representative Office of the Magazine.

To continue the success of this contest, the Organizing Committee will continue to launch the 2nd Photography and Life Contest with the theme "Beauty through photos 2025" with the aim of honoring the beauty of Vietnamese people through the lens of art.
