Phu Ninh veterans help each other reduce poverty

Over the years, the Veterans Association of Phu Ninh district has done a good job of gathering members, building a strong Association organization, especially activities to support members and veterans in economic development and helping each other reduce poverty.

Currently, the Association has 20 Association bases with over 9,400 members. Every year, based on the poverty reduction targets assigned by the superior Association and the local poverty reduction targets, the Associations at all levels have reviewed and classified poor and near-poor member households, thereby developing plans, assigning assistance targets to each branch, mobilizing members to actively participate in production and business development, coordinating with sectors and organizations to organize training courses for members and war veterans on science and technology transfer to improve the effectiveness of the model.

The District Veterans Association has coordinated with the Social Policy Bank to entrust over 85 billion VND to more than 1,900 members to borrow capital to develop their family economy. Along with that, the Association has promoted propaganda and mobilized members to actively support and build funds to form savings habits. Up to now, the association's fund at 2 levels has reached over 6.1 billion VND. Through the fund to help poor members and veterans in difficult circumstances, promoting the spirit of mutual love and affection in the community. With the companionship and support of the Association at all levels, many members of the Veterans Association in Phu Ninh have pioneered in participating in production and business in various fields, building suitable economic models, bringing high efficiency.

In Zone 1, Lien Hoa Commune, visiting the pig farming model of CCB Nguyen Tien Dat's family, we were told by him: "My family has invested in livestock farming since 2007. After many years of accumulating experience and capital, I am determined to expand the scale of the barn to increase the herd. Currently, my family's livestock area is over ^700m2 , regularly maintaining about 40 sows and more than 200 pigs for meat." Thanks to the correct implementation of care and disease prevention techniques, CCB Nguyen Tien Dat's livestock model is highly effective. On average, each year his family sells 8-10 litters of pigs for meat. In addition, his farm also provides breeding pigs to livestock facilities in and outside the province, after deducting expenses, earning hundreds of millions of VND/year in profit.

Not only promoting economic development activities, the Association at all levels also closely coordinates with departments, branches, and functional agencies to effectively implement the Party and State's policies and regimes, care for and protect the legitimate rights and interests of war veteran members; coordinates in issuing and exchanging health insurance cards and mobilizing war veteran members to buy health insurance, reaching over 96.4%; joins hands to support the elimination of temporary houses for poor war veteran members and those in difficult circumstances; supports war veteran members with serious illnesses or accidents...

With practical activities to help each other develop the economy and reduce poverty at the Veterans Association level, it has contributed to reducing the rate of poor Veterans Association members in Phu Ninh district to 0.25%. In the coming time, the Phu Ninh District Veterans Association will continue to promote the work of building and consolidating a strong Association organization; regularly care for, help and encourage Veterans facing difficulties, focus on activities to help each other develop the economy and reduce poverty sustainably; promptly commend and reward individuals who are good at economics, replicate effective models for members to learn, contributing to improving income and quality of life.
