Da Nang speeds up planning to preserve and promote the value of My Son Temple Complex

On August 20, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee, had a working session with relevant departments and branches on implementing the Plan for preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of the special national relic My Son Temple Complex until 2035, with a vision to 2050.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, the Prime Minister issued Decision 1404/QD-TTg dated June 27, 2025 approving the planning task, with a maximum time of 24 months, and a detailed implementation plan expected to last 17 months.

The planning content includes surveying the current status, assessing the value of relics, socio -economic and environmental factors; orientation for conservation, restoration and promotion of values; organization of architectural space, landscape and construction of new works.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Khiet, Deputy Director of the My Son World Heritage Management Board, said that the proposed implementation capital is about 6.6 billion VND, from the additional budget for the tangible cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO, which has been arranged in the 2025 budget. The My Son World Heritage Management Board coordinated with the consulting unit to assign tasks and responsibilities among the participating parties.

At the meeting, delegates agreed on the need to speed up the planning process. In particular, closely following the planning according to Decision 72/QD-TTg dated January 17, 2024 of the Prime Minister approving the Planning of the old Quang Nam province for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050. This is the basis for promoting the value of My Son, connecting cultural - historical - landscape tourism, forming a chain of sustainable tourism products.

After the survey, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee acknowledged the efforts of the units, assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City to be the investor to make the plan, advise on detailed plans, and ensure progress and quality.

At the same time, coordinate with departments, branches and localities so that the My Son Sanctuary National Special Monument continues to be an attractive cultural tourist destination; connect with the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture, other historical - cultural relics and scenic spots in the area; form a chain of tourism products, combine environmental protection, contribute to the socio-economic development of Da Nang city in general and Thu Bon commune in particular.
