Da Nang: Launching a zero-waste consumer community model

On the morning of August 10, the Da Nang Food Bank was officially launched, expected to be the first center for receiving and distributing relief food and the first zero-waste community consumption model in Da Nang.

This activity took place at 53 Le Dinh Chinh (Ngu Hanh Son Ward, Da Nang City), organized by the Da Nang Red Cross Society in coordination with the Vietnam Food Bank Network (Food Bank Vietnam).

Accordingly, Da Nang Food Bank is the 24th member of the Vietnam Food Bank Network, and the 8th member in the Central region before merging provinces/cities according to Resolution No. 76/2025/UBTVQH15.

Launching the Executive Board of Danang Food Bank

The Da Nang Food Bank is expected to be the first center for receiving and distributing relief food and a zero-waste community model in Da Nang. The bank will play a connecting role between supply sources from businesses, farmers, and manufacturers with those in need of support such as poor households, vulnerable groups, people with disabilities, shelters, and open houses.

At the launching ceremony, the “Da Nang Food Community” project was introduced as a pioneering model combining hunger reduction, anti-waste and communication and education on responsible consumption.

The project focuses on building a community of zero-waste food consumers; establishing emergency food reserves; connecting businesses, farmers, and producers with humanitarian organizations; and communicating to raise public awareness about green lifestyles and sustainable consumption.

Signing of cooperation between Da Nang Red Cross Society and Vietnam Food Bank Network

One of the important highlights of the event was the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Da Nang Red Cross Society and the Vietnam Food Bank Network. This agreement marks the foundation for long-term and effective cooperation in food support, poverty reduction and prevention of natural disasters and epidemics in the locality.

Within the framework, the program also announced the decision to establish the Executive Board and the Danang Food Bank Club and received food with a total value of nearly 102 million VND.
