On September 15, Hanoi University of Science and Technology announced its plan to organize the 2026 assessment exam, expected to have 3 exam sessions on weekends, each session will have 3-4 exam teams at 30 exam locations. The exam can accommodate about 60,000 exam sessions.
The expected exam time is as follows:

To comply with the new general education program of the Ministry of Education and Training , Hanoi University of Science and Technology said that the content and form of the thinking assessment test have been implemented according to the design and will remain stable for many years to come.
Accordingly, the test consists of 3 parts: Mathematical thinking (60 minutes), reading comprehension (30 minutes), and scientific thinking/problem solving (60 minutes).
These are 3 independent tests, the test questions will focus on assessing the thinking ability of the candidate in each test, not directly testing the knowledge of any subject. The test format is multiple choice on computer, the test results will be valid for 2 years to serve the university admission work.
Detailed structure of the thinking assessment test
In 2025, Hanoi University of Science and Technology organized 3 rounds of thinking assessment exams with 30 exam locations in Hanoi and provinces and cities including Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai, Ninh Binh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Da Nang; serving nearly 57,000 exams with a total of more than 28,000 candidates.
The average score of the 2025 thinking assessment test is 55.23 points. There are 11 candidates with a score of 90 or higher, 202 candidates with a score of 80 or higher, 1,860 candidates with a score of 70 or higher, and 20,421 candidates with a score of 50 or higher.
The exam results have been used by more than 50 universities for university admissions for the 2025-2026 school year.
