Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics proposed to be assigned the headquarters of the Political Administration Center of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (old) to overcome the shortage of facilities and at the same time expand training and research activities.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) has just sent a document to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the Department of Finance approving the policy of arranging and handing over the headquarters of the old Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Political Administration Center (No. 179 Bach Dang, Ba Ria Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) to serve educational activities and research training.

According to UEH, the number of students and trainees has increased rapidly in recent times due to the need for learning, while the unit has faced many limitations in terms of area and space for learning, teaching and research in the direction of innovation and creativity. Currently, UEH only has 10.3 m2/student, while the standard is 25 m2. The construction floor area/student is 2.23 m2, lower than the standard of 2.8 m2.

The lack of facilities prevents UEH from investing in research centers and laboratories with modern equipment, limiting the ability to combine training with research.

Therefore, UEH affirmed that if assigned this headquarters, the unit commits to promote training of high-quality human resources; at the same time, deploy research and innovation activities in fields such as marine economy , ocean technology, renewable energy, seaport logistics, tourism... in line with the strategic advantages of the eastern region of Ho Chi Minh City.

Recently, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Finance has also proposed a plan to arrange the old Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Political Administration Center headquarters for Saigon University to use as a training facility.

According to the Department of Finance, there are currently more than 200 real estate facilities in Ho Chi Minh City that have not been arranged. This agency has received dozens of petitions from central and local agencies and public service units regarding the need for headquarters, and is coordinating to submit them to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for consideration and resolution.

In fact, many departments and branches have relocated and concentrated their work in Ho Chi Minh City, so the old Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Political Administration Center only uses a small part of its area to handle transitional work.

Through review, the Department of Finance recorded that there were two units registering the need to use this facility: Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine and Saigon University.

Of which, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine is managing 4 real estate facilities; Saigon University is managing 3 facilities, one facility has been revoked but up to now no alternative location has been arranged. Therefore, the Department of Finance proposed the above headquarters arrangement plan for Saigon University.

The old Ba Ria Vung Tau Provincial Political Administration Center was started in 2009, completed and put into use in 2012, on an area of ​​about 20 hectares. The project includes main buildings of 6 floors and auxiliary buildings of 2-5 floors, a conference center, a regulating lake... and synchronous landscape infrastructure.
