Nghi Son town electricity maintains the power grid.
Nghi Son Town Electricity is currently managing and operating 23 transmission lines with a total length of 550.39km of medium voltage lines, a total length of 583.66km of low voltage lines; 751 distribution transformer stations are supplied with power from 3 110kV transformer stations (Tinh Gia 1, Tinh Gia 2 and Nong Cong). The whole unit has 52,539 customers signing direct electricity purchase contracts; of which 7 customers buy electricity at 110kV voltage level such as: VAS Nghi Son Group Joint Stock Company; Nghi Son Cement Company; Lionas Meltals Company Limited; Long Son Industrial Company Limited; Dai Duong Cement Joint Stock Company; Cong Thanh Cement Joint Stock Company; Power Grid Investment and Development Joint Stock Company. In 2024, the whole unit's commercial electricity will reach 2,373.582 million kWh (up 8.27% over the previous year). Of which, the area outside 110kV reached 475,111 million kWh, exceeding the plan by 1.15%. Electricity output from rooftop solar power systems reached 7 million kWh.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Hung, Director of Nghi Son Town Electricity, said: “Nghi Son Town Electricity is one of the units that regularly receives attention and investment from Thanh Hoa PC, especially in the investment in upgrading and renovating the power grid in a synchronous and gradually modernized direction. The medium voltage grid system has 8 loops to ensure continuous power supply even in the event of an incident. 100% of low voltage lines use insulated wires, improving operational safety and reducing incidents due to weather”.
However, the Economic Zone concentrates many large-scale enterprises, especially heavy industries, processing, seaports and logistics; the management radius of the unit is relatively wide (more than 24km), including many areas with different terrain and characteristics (coastal areas, midland - mountainous areas, rural areas, urban areas); the growth rate of electricity demand is always maintained at a high level, so the power system must be flexible, stable and highly reliable.
Meanwhile, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, this summer in Vietnam, especially in the North and Central regions, there is a possibility of many severe heat waves, with temperatures ranging from 40 - 42°C. Although the frequency and intensity of heat waves are expected to be approximately the average of many years, in the context of global climate change, the risk of extreme, prolonged heat waves remains high. At that time, electricity consumption will also increase dramatically, and the power system in the Northern region is still at risk of peak capacity shortages during peak hours, especially on extremely hot days from April to August 2025.
To ensure safe, continuous and stable power supply to serve the daily life, production and business needs of people and businesses in the area under its management, Nghi Son Town Power Company has proactively developed a plan and a list of planned investments, renovations and upgrades of the medium to low voltage grid. All investment, upgrade, renovation and major repairs of the grid to ensure safe, stable and continuous power supply, especially during the hot season, must be completed before March 31 every year.
Since the beginning of the year, the unit has completed a number of major investment projects in renovation, upgrading and repair of the power grid such as: investing in construction and renovation of the power grid with a total capital of over VND 27,158 billion in 2024; effectively operating new loops (371 E9.13-373 E9.13, 472 E9.13 - 479 E9.13, 375E9.37-376E9.13); rotating 87 overloaded and underloaded transformers; strengthening periodic inspections, promptly handling defects with support equipment such as flycams, thermal cameras; implementing industrial cleaning of the power grid with high-pressure water...
As one of the eight largest coastal economic zones in the country, located in the province's key economic development corridor, the NSKTZ is always bustling with activities of constructions and projects being started and built. That creates great pressure on the electricity industry in ensuring safe, continuous and stable power supply to serve the construction and construction of works, traffic infrastructure projects, infrastructure of industrial parks and large urban areas of the province and the country.
Recently, Thanh Hoa PC had a working session with representatives of Dong Vang Industrial Park (IP) and Vietnam - Japan Hop Thanh Industrial Park Investment Joint Stock Company to resolve difficulties and obstacles in providing electricity for infrastructure investment projects of these two enterprises in the IP.
The parties discussed and analyzed the current status of the power grid system and proposed technical solutions to ensure safe and continuous power supply, meeting the construction progress and infrastructure operation. Based on that, representatives of the parties agreed that it is necessary to research and develop a long-term and stable power supply plan for the entire region, meeting the needs of sustainable industrial development. At the meeting, Mr. Hoang Hai, Director of PC Thanh Hoa, affirmed: "Upholding the spirit of "electricity goes one step ahead", with the motto "customer is the center", the company will mobilize maximum resources, ensuring enough capacity to serve the construction process and infrastructure development of these industrial parks".
For Dong Vang Industrial Park, the maximum approved capacity demand until January 2026 is 1,660kW. In case of additional demand, it will be considered depending on the reality and capacity of the power grid system. At Industrial Park No. 19, the power supply plan is determined to connect to the 110kV line from the 220kV Nong Cong Transformer Station. PC Thanh Hoa commits to ensuring enough capacity to serve the initial phase of construction and infrastructure development.
In addition, the two sides agreed that PC Thanh Hoa will be the direct electricity retailer for secondary investors in the industrial park, ensuring stable and transparent electricity supply in accordance with legal regulations. At the same time, the investor is requested to promptly provide complete relevant legal documents as a basis for surveying and reporting to the Northern Power Corporation on investment and construction work according to the process.
In addition to the achieved results, ensuring safe, continuous and stable power supply in the Nghi Son Economic Zone has been facing difficulties and challenges such as: some areas with forest and mountainous terrain and sparse population, making it difficult to clear the power grid safety corridor; some power lines passing through residential land since the handover, receiving the original status, causing difficulties for investment, construction and major repairs... Mr. Nguyen Quang Hung, Director of Nghi Son Town Electricity, shared: "To do better in ensuring safe, continuous and stable power supply in the area, meeting the needs of people and businesses, Nghi Son Town Electricity has reported to the leaders of Thanh Hoa PC to direct the handling of the power grid passing through residential areas invested by the locality and handed over the original status; the local government after streamlining and reorganizing will continue to coordinate more closely in the work of clearing the power grid safety corridor...".
The North, North Central region in general, Thanh Hoa province in particular, has entered the hot season with peak heat waves, electricity consumption recorded a record high. According to statistics of the Northern Power Corporation, the electricity consumption capacity in 27 provinces and cities in the Northern region (except Hanoi ) during the peak noon on June 2, 2025 reached 17,400 MW, exceeding 100 MW compared to the peak in 2024 (17,300 MW), setting a new record for electricity consumption. To accompany and "join hands" with the electricity industry in ensuring safe, continuous and stable electricity supply, people need to raise awareness and responsibility in using electricity safely and economically such as: turning off electrical equipment when not in use; setting the air conditioner temperature to 27 degrees or higher; Do not use devices that consume a lot of electricity at the same time, especially during peak hours... The business community in the province actively participates in the load adjustment program that the electricity industry is implementing for the benefit of the businesses themselves, the electricity industry and the province; at the same time, research, invest in upgrading and replacing high-performance, energy-saving transmission lines, machinery and equipment, contributing to promoting sustainable development and environmental protection...
