On November 26, VTC News reporters noted that landslides on the La Son - Tuy Loan highway (in Da Nang ) were still littered with mud, rocks and soil, even though authorities arranged vehicles and workers to work 24/7 to handle the situation.

In particular, at landslide points from Km42+730 to Km42+800, and from Km46+330 to Km46+430, the amount of rock and soil was very large when the entire hill slid down onto the road.

A representative of Phu Yen Road Management and Repair Joint Stock Company (Road Management Area III) directly in charge of troubleshooting the problem on the highway said that at the landslide site, the total amount of rock and soil was estimated at about 30,000m3, with some sections extending 50-60m. "We are trying to handle it as quickly as possible, but the continuous heavy rain, mud, and water continue to pour down, making the repair process difficult. In addition, the unit has to both clear rock and soil while ensuring the safety of vehicles, so the progress is somewhat affected," the representative said.

On November 26, it rained heavily but workers of Phu Yen Road Management and Repair Joint Stock Company still braved the rain, mobilizing excavators and trucks to clear mud and soil.

Meanwhile, at Km46+330 to Km46+430, more than 20,000m3 of rock and soil on the slope continued to collapse, breaking the concrete retaining wall system. Currently, rock and soil cover almost the entire road surface, workers are clearing it to a width of about 5m, just enough for vehicles to pass.

The entire cement slope was torn apart. For over 10 days, workers have been using excavators to dig it up but it has not been completed yet.

"We work 24/7 but the amount of landslides is so large that it is still a mess. In addition, the terrain here is complex, the soil is mainly kaolin, the weather is raining heavily and for a long time, the water-saturated soil expands and breaks the structure, so there is a potential risk of further landslides," added a representative of the troubleshooting unit.

A representative of Phu Yen Road Management and Repair Joint Stock Company said that the unit also assigned people at checkpoints at both ends of the route to inform drivers before getting on the route, to avoid prolonging waiting time when passing landslide points due to traffic difficulties.
