In Vung Tau, Nha Trang or Da Lat, it is common to see crowds of people jostling in the hot sun, trying to find a place to rest and take souvenir photos. Such a common situation unintentionally turns a relaxing vacation into a "torture" for tourists.

Traffic will also be a big obstacle when the amount of people and vehicles converge at one point, causing everything to stagnate. Feeling tired will be inevitable.

For those who decide to “pack up and go”, that is it. The people who stay at home, worry and think the most are probably business owners, especially those who trade with foreign countries.

There have been many complaints from businesses about the pressure of delivering orders and especially paying salaries to workers in a difficult economic situation. In addition, according to these units, long holidays lead to quality inspection, product certification, quarantine papers, etc. being affected. Long holidays also cause significant increases in warehouse fees, container storage fees, port storage fees, electricity costs, etc. Banking transactions, an important part, are also in a difficult situation because banks are also closed for holidays.

From the perspective of the employees, getting back to work after a period of suspension will also be a challenge. Especially for units that have transactions with foreign countries. Partners will find it difficult to sympathize if the company cannot promptly synthesize and process a large amount of information, documents, contracts, etc. that have accumulated from the holidays. The feeling of fatigue and lethargy will likely return after the holidays if it cannot be handled skillfully.

What is the solution?

Over the years, the issue of public holidays has been continuously discussed by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and related ministries and agencies. This demonstrates a spirit of caution and listening to people's opinions.

In fact, it is very difficult to judge what is considered a lot of holidays because in the world there are many countries that have many more holidays per year than Vietnam.

From 2021, Vietnam will have only 11 public holidays in a year. Meanwhile, Japan, a developed country, has 15 public holidays. Japan even has a holiday that lasts for 10 consecutive days. In China, the total number of official public holidays is 25 days.

In the writer’s personal opinion, the number of holidays in Vietnam is neither too long nor too short. Holidays have both advantages and disadvantages. However, if we know how to promote the advantages and limit the disadvantages, it will certainly turn holidays into the most wonderful days of the year for the majority of people.

To do this, first of all, there needs to be a systematic and scientific planning. The management agency needs to make specific plans for each holiday, including predicting the number of tourists, service needs, traffic, etc., in order to have a reasonable traffic flow plan to avoid traffic congestion.

In addition, for special priority sectors, there should be flexible policies to meet their essential needs during the holidays. It is also necessary to properly coordinate the activities of administrative agencies and businesses to ensure normal operations after the holidays.

For tourism establishments and localities developing tourism, it is necessary to invest in developing tourism infrastructure, improving the quality of tourism services year after year. At the same time, it is necessary to control service prices, avoiding the situation of "price gouging" tourists.

For each individual, it is also necessary to clearly recognize that long vacations do not necessarily result in an expensive, lavish trip. If economic conditions are not abundant, you can find better options such as organizing fun meals at home or exploring new tourist destinations that do not cost too much.

Everyone should also find ways to connect with work at certain times to ensure progress. When returning after vacation, everything will not become too crowded, causing unnecessary fatigue.
