VICE CHAIRMAN OF THE CITY PEOPLE'S COMMITTEE NGUYEN THI ANH THI:
Developing public libraries in a modern, digital and community-engaged direction
The project "Developing the public library system of Da Nang city in the period of 2021 - 2025, with a vision to 2030" identifies the consistent goal of building a modern, friendly library system that operates synchronously and effectively, playing the role of a community knowledge center, contributing to the development of reading culture and a lifelong learning environment.
To realize this goal, Da Nang will focus on a number of key orientations:
Firstly, strengthen connection and communication between libraries through a centralized management system, data synchronization, and resource sharing between city libraries and grassroots libraries to optimize service efficiency.
Second, promote the application of information technology to develop a reading culture associated with digital transformation. The city will build an electronic library, a digital resource warehouse, organize reading promotion activities, book festivals and reading clubs to spread the reading culture in the community, especially among young people.
Third, develop libraries into friendly, multifunctional lifelong learning spaces where people can read, study and look up information.
Fourth, focus on improving the quality of library human resources, especially the staff at commune and ward levels with expertise, technological skills and capacity to organize community activities.
Finally, Da Nang will promote domestic and international cooperation to share resources, experiences and implement study and research programs related to sustainable development needs.

Ms. TRAN THI NHU NGUYET, LIBRARY OFFICER, PUBLIC SERVICE PROVISION CENTER OF NUI THANH COMMUNE:
Developing a network of community bookcases
Developing a reading culture in grassroots libraries is still facing many difficulties. Limited book sources and funding for new books have not met the needs of readers, especially young people. Reading promotion activities are not organized regularly due to lack of funding and support policies. People also have little time for reading, partly because of work and partly because there is no attractive reading environment.
To overcome this, it is necessary to increase the socialization of library work, mobilize organizations and individuals to donate books; coordinate with schools and organizations to organize exchanges, storytelling competitions, and writing experiences to stimulate a love of reading in the community.
At the same time, develop a network of "community bookcases" in villages and residential groups and use social networks to promote good and new books.
To serve library readers, the first step is to deploy a digital library, use book management software, and post book introduction content on digital platforms.
In the current context, librarians need to be more proactive and creative in approaching readers, building a friendly reading environment, and coordinating with organizations to make reading culture a regular activity in the locality.

MR. NGUYEN PHIN, READER OF THANH KHE WARD:
Investing in a synchronous basic library system
Da Nang currently has a General Science Library with a beautiful space, large scale, rich book resources and enthusiastic librarians, well meeting the needs of readers.
However, not all people have access to and enjoy such quality services. Currently, the city has 94 communes, wards and special zones; many of which are still lacking in facilities, books and library human resources.
To narrow this gap, it is necessary to invest synchronously in the grassroots library system, supplement diverse book sources and especially develop electronic libraries to shorten the gap in reading culture between central and suburban areas; help people in suburban and disadvantaged areas have the opportunity to access knowledge, contributing to spreading reading culture widely in the community.
MR. HO VAN Y, DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF HOA KHANH WARD PUBLIC SERVICE PROVISION CENTER:
Pay attention to staffing for the library
The current source of books at the local library is abundant, interconnected and connected across the system, contributing to attracting readers, especially students.
In order for the public library to operate sustainably and long-term, we hope that the city will pay attention to arranging human resources and supporting funding sources for training staff working at the library. At the same time, we hope that the city will invest in interconnected software and electronic software to ensure the connection of the entire industry system, sustainable development, efficiency and long-term.
