An Giang is one of the few localities selected by UNFPA to implement the “Sunshine House” model - a model to support women and girls who are victims of violence, with a total budget of 130,000 USD funded by UNFPA. The project aims to promote gender equality, prevent and respond to gender-based violence and support victims of violence to access essential and quality comprehensive services. It is expected that by 2026, 100 women and girls will access and use the service; 60 service providers will be trained to improve their capacity; 1,000 people will have access to information...

Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy shared: "An Giang Sunshine House" - a project with profound humanitarian meaning, supporting women and girls who suffer from violence in An Giang. I highly appreciate the companionship and support of central agencies, UNFPA, the cooperation and responsibility of departments, branches and organizations, contributing to making An Giang Sunshine House a reality. This is not only a social project but also a symbol of the spirit of humanity, sharing and community responsibility".

Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy said that the operation of the An Giang “Sunshine House” is not only a concretization of the Party and State’s policies on gender equality, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of women and children, but also a demonstration of the attention and efforts of all levels, sectors, organizations and the community in building a safe, humane and non-violent society. With the function of being a place to receive, advise, provide medical care, provide legal support, psychological support and create conditions for community reintegration, this place will become a reliable support, promptly sheltering and helping women and girls who unfortunately fall into difficult circumstances.

Deputy Director of the Department of Youth Affairs and Gender Equality, Ministry of Home Affairs Luong Thi Hai Anh said that An Giang is the 6th province nationwide, and the first province in the Mekong Delta region to launch this model, with the desire to raise people's awareness in preventing and combating gender-based violence, moving towards a violence-free society. "Sunshine House" will truly be a safe home, bringing the light of faith, hope and life-changing opportunities to those who have suffered trauma.
