Although sharing the same historical origin, language and some cultural characteristics with other ethnic groups, the Giay people still maintain their own characteristics, especially in the folk song genre with many different melodies. The content of the songs often reflects the life with many thoughts and feelings of the people through themes: praising nature, praising love, there are songs of the rich, the poor, of the low and the high...

Songs and chants are sung anytime, anywhere in funerals, weddings, congratulations, festivals and especially when Giay boys and girls meet. Giay folk songs have three very popular forms: Vuon ha lan (singing beside the wine tray), Vuon hang ham (confession song) and Vuon sroong ran (farewell song), but the most special are the sweet and affectionate "Vuong" melodies of Giay boys and girls on Spring nights.
