
Within the framework of the program, the IGRO expert team surveyed the actual radiotherapy activities at the Da Nang Oncology Hospital. From there, they oriented and developed a training and consulting program for the hospital's team of doctors, physicists, and technicians.
This is an important opportunity for the hospital's medical staff to improve their expertise, access advanced treatment methods, and contribute to improving the quality of gynecological cancer treatment for patients in the Central region and Vietnam.
IGRO is an international alliance established with the aim of improving training capacity and treatment of gynecological cancer by radiotherapy in low- and middle-income countries. Da Nang Oncology Hospital is one of the training centers selected by IGRO to implement the program from 2025.
It is known that radiotherapy is one of the strengths of Da Nang Oncology Hospital. With 2 accelerator radiotherapy machines and 1 high-dose rate brachytherapy machine, Da Nang Oncology Hospital has deployed most of the current radiotherapy techniques such as 3D conformal radiotherapy, intensity-modulated radiotherapy, concurrent chemoradiotherapy, palliative radiotherapy, total spinal cord radiotherapy, high-dose rate brachytherapy under image guidance.
Radiation therapy at Da Nang Oncology Hospital is getting better and better in both quantity and quality, as shown by the statistics of patients increasing every year, not only in Da Nang but also in many other provinces and cities.
