The United States supports Da Nang in improving its capacity to treat gynecological cancers.

DNVN - On the morning of September 8, Da Nang Oncology Hospital welcomed a delegation of experts from TVD (Team of Volunteer Doctors) - USA, led by Dr. Linda Van Le, to organize a series of training and professional exchange activities.

Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung - Director of Da Nang Oncology Hospital said that TVD Organization (USA) has established a relationship with Da Nang since 1999, making many practical contributions to the city's health sector. In particular, since 2017, the program has supported the training of international gynecological oncologists right at Da Nang Oncology Hospital.

TVD expert delegation (USA) took a souvenir photo with the Board of Directors of Da Nang Oncology Hospital during the working session on the morning of September 8.

Up to now, the Department of Gynecology of Da Nang Oncology Hospital has Dr. Phan Thi Hong Ngoc and Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Dung who have graduated from the training course. Currently, Dr. Vo Nguyen Xuan Trang (working at Da Nang Hospital) is also studying this program. In the future, there will be more young doctors trained, contributing to improving the quality of treatment and patient care.

At the working session on the morning of September 8, the delegation of experts from TVD and Da Nang Oncology Hospital evaluated the long-standing cooperation and valuable support over the past time. At the same time, many important contents were discussed, from training and sharing expertise in gynecological cancer to orientations for expanding cooperation in the future.

The TVD expert delegation acknowledged the remarkable progress of Da Nang Oncology Hospital and expressed their hope for stronger development in the coming time. They said that from September 8 to 12, they will coordinate with Da Nang Oncology Hospital to organize a series of training activities, exchange expertise, and discuss new cooperation directions in the future.

A special highlight of this 5-day visit was the international conference on “Gynecological Cancer” held on the afternoon of September 9 at the Danang Oncology Hospital. The conference gathered many leading experts from prestigious medical centers and universities in the United States such as the University of Texas, the University of North Carolina, Mayo Clinic, Massachusetts General Hospital, etc.

Reports at the conference focused on updating the latest advances in diagnosis and treatment, including approach and management of suspected adnexal tumors; diagnosis and treatment of early-stage endometrial cancer; targeted therapy in gynecological cancers; surgery for early-stage cervical cancer; treatment of gynecological cancers during pregnancy.

According to Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung - Director of Da Nang Oncology Hospital, this will be a good opportunity for doctors in the region to access advanced knowledge and learn practical experience from international colleagues. Thereby improving the quality of treatment and care for patients, especially gynecological cancer patients.
