(NLDO) – 4 people stuck in the middle of Dak Mi River ( Quang Nam province) were safely rescued by authorities using pulleys to cross the flood.

On the afternoon of December 14, Mr. Ho Van Huy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuoc Chanh Commune, Phuoc Son District, Quang Nam Province, informed that the authorities had used a pulley and rope system to successfully rescue 4 people trapped in the middle of the Dak Mi River due to floods.

Previously, on the afternoon of December 13, 4 residents of village 3, Phuoc Chanh commune, Phuoc Son district, including Mr. Ho Van Thung, Ho Minh Ha, Ho Van Ngo and Ho Van Kiem, on their way to work in the fields, crossed three Dak Se streams that intersect with the Dak Mi river.

When they arrived at a rocky island in the downstream area of ​​Dak Mi 3 hydroelectric reservoir, heavy rain suddenly lasted for a long time, floodwater from upstream poured in quickly, causing them to be separated, unable to escape from the dangerous area.

On the morning of December 14, staff at Dak Mi 3 Hydropower Plant discovered the above situation and quickly reported it to the local authorities. Upon receiving the information, the People's Committee of Phuoc Chanh Commune coordinated with hundreds of local people to carry out rescue work.

The authorities used ropes to create a pulley system to cross the fast-flowing floodwaters and bring all four people to safety. By 2 p.m. the same day, the rescue work was completed.

According to Mr. Ho Van Huy, the rescue work was completed promptly, without causing any injuries or shortage of essential supplies for the victims. Currently, the health of all four people is stable.

Quang Nam Hydrometeorological Station forecasts that from December 14 to 16, many localities in the province will continue to have heavy rain. Rainfall will range from 40-150 mm depending on the area, especially the southern mountainous areas may record rainfall of over 200 mm, posing a risk of flash floods and landslides.
