The focus of the third competition day of the final round of the 2025 Predator WPA Men's 10-Ball World Championship was on the hands of host Vietnam, Duong Quoc Hoang (alias Hoang "Sao").

Opponent Naoyuki Oi from Japan showed his bravery and even luck. He and Hoang "Sao" created an exciting match, reaching the final result of 1-2 in a tense penalty shootout.

Set 1 belonged to Naoyuki with the highlight being the 8 ball that Duong Quoc Hoang missed. The home player considered it a free gift for Naoyuki to clear the table to tie the score in set 1 when the score was balanced at 3-3.

Hoang "Sao" aimed the black ball very carefully but it hit the two edges of the hole and flew out. He seemed to not believe he had missed the shot and was about to drop the cue to show his disappointment. The closed eyes and pursed lips said it all.

The Military Zone 7 gymnasium was silent before the turning point that the top Vietnamese player had to face. However, Hoang "Sao" did not let his fans down when he regained his composure and class.

He won the second set quickly with a score of 4-1 to bring the match into a deciding third set. Naoyuki also kept his mind very well when surrounded by mostly Duong Quoc Hoang's fans. However, the Japanese player could not avoid mistakes when he missed the 5th ball, allowing his opponent to bring the match into a singles match.

On the penalty line, Hoang "Sao" was more stable and determined, so he easily hit 4 shots. Meanwhile, Naoyuki seemed hasty and lost his rhythm, so he made 2 wrong shots and lost 2-4.

With this victory, Hoang "Sao" has officially entered the Last 32 round of the 2025 Men's 10-Ball World Championship. He has an additional percentage of the possibility of going further when the 2024 Men's 10-Ball World Champion Carlo Biado was eliminated a few minutes after him. Biado lost to Chgung Ko Ping also in the penalty shootout.

Meanwhile, the remaining representative of Vietnam, Pham Phuong Nam, lost 0-2 to the higher-rated opponent from the Philippines, Jeffrey De Luna. The Vietnamese player still has a chance to advance to the last 32 players in the loser's bracket when he meets Moritz Neuhausen.

In the winner's bracket, highly rated players such as Ko Ping Yi, Shane Van Boening... all won to enter the Last 32 round. The highlight match between defending champion Carlo Biado and Ko Ping Chung also ended with Ko Ping Chung winning.

Tomorrow (September 24), the remaining 32 players in the losers bracket will compete in the final round to find the remaining 16 players to continue to the knockout round. All hopes of Vietnam will be placed on Pham Phuong Nam in this competition day. The final round of the losers bracket will also gather many notable players such as Joshua Filler, Albin Ouschan, Jonas Souto, AJ Manas, Eklent Kaçi...

The matches in the Last 16 of the Poison Cues Saigon Women's 9-Ball Open will take place at 1 p.m. on September 24. The quarterfinals will take place at 6 p.m. that evening.

The first 16 players to participate in the Last 32 round include :
