Miraculous learning stories of female students

Nguyen Thi Xuan Canh’s family lives in Trung village, Dien Lam commune, Dien Khanh district (Khanh Hoa province). There, her hard-working mother Do Thi Son (64 years old) earns a living by selling bananas. Canh has a mentally ill younger brother, and her father passed away from a serious illness last July.
Having graduated from high school in 2013 and failed the university entrance exam, the girl studied and passed the University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University) the following year. But after only one year of studying, Canh decided to quit and return to her hometown to teach secondary school students to help her mother raise her younger siblings.
Canh's journey to pursue knowledge restarted in 2017 when she passed the entrance exam for the Mathematics Pedagogy major at Khanh Hoa University. Everything seemed to be going smoothly, but Canh suffered from depression and stopped studying. And this time, the 29-year-old girl has just become a new student majoring in Mathematics at Da Lat University with her 18-year-old friends.
Another new female student, Nguyen Thi Lai (University of Natural Sciences, Ho Chi Minh City National University) said the biggest motivation for her to study is the love of teachers, friends and benefactors who help her. Lai said she wants to return after graduation to work and contribute to her hometown because "only studying can help me overcome adversity and move towards good things."
Knowing that she was awarded the scholarship to support her studies , Lai said she was truly happy because it would help her in some way with her current life as a freshman. That also helped Lai and her two older sisters, who are both students at the University of Natural Sciences, feel less lonely, even though they are orphans.
Many times my studies were interrupted because of life’s difficulties, but I still wanted to continue with my dream. I hope to become a math teacher, strong enough to help students with difficult circumstances like me.
