Nearly 420 billion VND in support for Cuba after one month

After only one month of launching, the "65 years of friendship between Vietnam and Cuba" program to support the Cuban people has raised 416 billion VND, 6.4 times higher than the initial target. Many localities are actively implementing response activities, contributing to strengthening the special friendship between the two peoples.

Many localities responded

On September 14, at October 30 Square, the Quang Ninh Provincial Red Cross Society coordinated with the Provincial Youth Union to organize the launching ceremony of the Peak Month of Propaganda and Mobilization to Support the Cuban People (September 16 - October 16, 2025). This is an activity in response to the Call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society , on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba.

A large number of officials, members, union members and young people in Quang Ninh enthusiastically participated and donated on the spot, demonstrating the spirit of sharing and community responsibility. The peak month will be implemented throughout the province with many practical activities, spreading the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.

In Vinh Long , the provincial Red Cross organized a mini football tournament with 12 teams and nearly 100 athletes participating in fundraising to support Cuba. Mr. Tu Minh Dien, Chairman of the provincial Red Cross, said: "Every contribution, no matter how small, is a noble gesture, adding strength to the Cuban people - a loyal and steadfast friend of the Vietnamese people."

Previously, the Quang Tri Red Cross said that by the end of September 12, the locality had raised more than VND9.1 billion, leading the country in this campaign. The large amount of money was obtained thanks to the joint efforts of officials, party members, people and businesses.

For Quang Tri, the affection for Cuba is even deeper because in 1973, in the midst of the war, leader Fidel Castro visited this land. From that mark, hundreds of Cuban experts, engineers, and doctors did not hesitate to go to Quang Tri and Quang Binh (old) to help build the Vietnam - Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital, a vivid symbol of strong international solidarity.

According to the Vietnam Red Cross Central Committee, as of September 13, after one month of launching, the program has raised about 416 billion VND, 6.4 times the initial target (65 billion VND).

Notably, on September 1, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, under the witness of General Secretary To Lam and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel, Vietnam presented the first donation of nearly 385 billion VND to Cuba.

Initiative to spread love

To spread the program widely, ministries, branches and localities have implemented many forms of mobilization: organizing launching ceremonies, calling for participation in agencies, units, schools, armed forces, etc. In addition, there are many creative initiatives. The Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations directed the Literature and Arts Times to coordinate with the Vietnam Musicians Association and the Digital Knowledge Media Corporation to launch a songwriting contest "Vietnam - Cuba: Forever the song of friendship". It is expected that an art night introducing typical works will be held at the end of the program.

On social networks, many groups and online communities also have their own ways to raise funds, such as "charging" members to send direct donations.

The program quickly became a social phenomenon that was widely supported by the public, including students. Simple but touching stories - from children saving money for breakfast, to ordinary workers sending their hearts - touched millions of hearts, affirming the power of kindness and lasting friendship.

The program "65 years of Vietnam - Cuba friendship" will be implemented until October 16, 2025.
