In a warm atmosphere, more than 430 union members and employees of Song La Xanh Packaging Joint Stock Company (Duc Tho commune) recently participated in the program "Union Meal" organized by the Union Executive Committee in coordination with the company's leaders. The program was attended by leaders of the Provincial Federation of Labor and local authorities.
Each meal at the program costs 66,000 VND, 45,000 VND higher than the regular meal, the additional amount is taken from the union budget. On this occasion, the Company's Union Executive Committee also admitted 15 new union members and presented 9 gifts (each worth 500,000 VND) to disadvantaged workers.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Giang - a worker at the company said: "The meals have shrimp, meat, vegetables, soup and fresh fruit for dessert, ensuring adequate nutrition, and are prepared more carefully than usual, so they are very delicious. There is also more time, so the workers can comfortably eat and share with each other about work and daily life."
The Trade Union of Appareltech Ha Tinh Export Garment Company Limited has also coordinated with the Board of Directors of the company to organize the program "Trade Union Meal" for more than 1,400 union members and employees. The meal in the program is worth 52 thousand VND, of which the Trade Union contributes 31 thousand VND. At the program, the company's foreign leaders directly talked and grasped the thoughts and aspirations of the workers and employees of each department.
Mr. Tran Sy Tung - Chairman of the Trade Union of Appareltech Ha Tinh Export Garment Company Limited said: "We have planned and prepared carefully from the selection, checking the quantity and quality of food to processing to ensure hygiene... to have the most delicious and warmest meal. And the program has left a good impression in the hearts of workers and laborers".
“Union meal” is one of the highlight activities of the trade union organization to celebrate major holidays this year such as: the 96th anniversary of the founding of Vietnam Trade Union (1929 - 2025), the 80th anniversary of August Revolution and National Day September 2 (1945 - 2025), welcoming Party congresses at all levels...
For the program to be successful, in addition to the role of trade unions at all levels, the support and facilitation from business leaders is an extremely important factor. Ms. Bui Thi Nghe - Director of TAAD Ha Tinh Production, Investment and Trade Joint Stock Company expressed: "The production, business and brand building process of the enterprise always has the accompaniment of trade unions and workers. Therefore, the attention and facilitation for the grassroots trade union executive committee to promote its role of caring for, representing and protecting workers is also the responsibility of the company's leaders".
In recent years, with the participation and advice of the trade union organization, enterprises in Ha Tinh have quite well implemented Resolution 7C on the quality of workers' meals issued by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on February 25, 2016.
Resolution 7C sets the minimum support level for shift meals at 15,000 VND/meal. From 2022 to now, this support level at enterprises in Ha Tinh has reached an average of 22,000 VND/meal; the quality of meals has been increasingly improved; there have been no cases of mass food poisoning. Currently, the whole province has more than 360 enterprises with trade unions providing shift meals for workers.
In 2024, the "Union Meal" program was organized for the first time. More than 640 grassroots unions in the province participated in the program with over 31,000 meals worth more than 3.6 billion VND (of which 2.8 billion VND was from socialized sources) for workers. This year's program was organized from July to September 2025, with 35 grassroots unions registering with more than 7,000 meals. Each meal cost an average of 70,000 VND, the organization's budget was mobilized from the grassroots union fund, socialized sources from enterprises and support from higher-level unions.
The “Union Meal” program is not simply a collective meal but also a space for union members, workers, union officials and business leaders to share and connect. This is also an opportunity to raise awareness of businesses in caring for life, ensuring health, helping workers feel secure at work and contributing to building sustainable business development.
