Binh My Commune aims for a green and sustainable community tourism model

On October 2, the People's Committee of Binh My commune (HCMC) organized a seminar on community development associated with tourism , aiming to open a new direction for the locality.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Chairman of Binh My Commune People's Committee - said that Binh My Commune is building a pilot community tourism model, taking advantage of available potential to develop green, sustainable tourism, attracting domestic and international tourists.

Binh My Commune has an area of ​​about 54.43km² and a population of nearly 100,000 people, with about 17.4km of Saigon River bank. The locality has advantages in developing high-tech agriculture , eco-tourism and cultural preservation, connecting the river system to create a unique destination.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan emphasized that to realize the goal, Binh My commune needs to solve problems from policy making, planning to actual implementation. It is necessary to inventory and comprehensively evaluate tourism resources, cultural and historical heritage to effectively manage and build specific development programs. In particular, the role of the community and businesses is given top priority, aiming at a sustainable development strategy, making the most of social resources.

The highlight of the model is to turn people into "storytellers" about local history and culture, both preserving traditions and helping tourists better understand the identity and people of Binh My.

According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, the community tourism model in Binh My commune is expected to be successful in bringing benefits to all participating parties, with effectively implemented plans, ensuring sustainability for the future.
