Gia Lai commits to support ICISE in developing science and technology

DNVN - Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee commits to accompany ICISE Center, support key research, attract international human resources and develop large-scale scientific conferences.

On September 10, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan directly went to the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) to work with the center's leaders on the issue of improving activities to effectively contribute to the development of science and technology.

Professor Tran Thanh Van – President of the Vietnam Rencontres du Sciences Association, Director of ICISE Center, said that for many years, ICISE has focused on basic scientific research, with four main directions including: neutrino physics, astrophysics, quantum physics and biophysics. These are key areas where Vietnam still lacks a team of specialized researchers.

At the same time, the center also strives to attract prestigious international scientists and establish cooperation with leading research organizations such as the French Aerospace Research Center (CNES) and the French Institute for Research for Development (IRD).

Several major projects are being promoted such as the oceanographic monitoring station, the BIOMASS satellite signal receiving station or the idea of ​​“Hotel for Science”. These are considered strategic steps for Gia Lai to both make a mark in the field of scientific research and open up opportunities to develop scientific tourism – a new field in Vietnam.

Professor Tran Thanh Van suggested that Gia Lai province have a long-term support mechanism, especially in employing and retaining international scientists, while creating conditions to organize conferences, seminars, and classes according to the 2025 plan.

“Maintaining a vibrant academic environment will help ICISE continue to affirm its position, while making practical contributions to the development of science and technology in the country,” emphasized Professor Tran Thanh Van.

Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan acknowledged the efforts and contributions of ICISE in recent times. He highly appreciated the role of the center in organizing international conferences and seminars, creating opportunities for Vietnamese students, lecturers and scientists to access new knowledge and advanced research methods.

“ICISE has helped Vietnamese science integrate deeply with the international community, while contributing to raising Gia Lai's position on the global science map,” Mr. Pham Anh Tuan affirmed.

Provincial leaders agreed to support funding for four key research directions of ICISE in the 2026-2028 period, and at the same time requested the center to develop a specific project, clarifying resources, expected results and output products so that functional sectors have a basis for appraisal.

In addition, the Provincial People's Committee also supports the establishment of an oceanographic monitoring station and a BIOMASS satellite signal receiving station, considering these important projects of international significance that need to be carefully researched and systematically implemented.

Regarding the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research and Education (IFIRSE) under ICISE, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan suggested that the center continue to attract prestigious scientists in the world as well as overseas Vietnamese. This is a necessary direction to build a team of successor human resources, create long-term ties with Gia Lai and contribute to the development of science and technology of the country.

In addition to research, Gia Lai province also affirmed that it will support ICISE to continue to maintain and improve international conferences and seminars. These events not only contribute to spreading knowledge, but also help promote the image of the locality as a prestigious academic destination, attracting the attention of the global scientific community.
