Rice price today September 19: Domestic price stable, export decreased

Rice prices today, September 19, decreased in the export market, 5% broken fragrant rice decreased by 5 USD/ton, rice prices in the domestic market remain stable.

Domestic rice prices fluctuate little.

In the Mekong Delta region, the rice market today is generally quite stable. The prices of raw rice for export remain at familiar levels: IR 504 fluctuates at 8,100 - 8,200 VND/kg, CL 555 at about 8,150 - 8,250 VND/kg, OM 380 at 7,450 - 7,550 VND/kg, OM 18 remains at 8,500 - 8,600 VND/kg, OM 5451 from 7,700 - 7,900 VND/kg. In the finished product group, IR 504 rice is commonly in the range of 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg, OM 380 from 8,800 - 9,000 VND/kg.

By-products such as OM 504 broken rice and rice bran also fluctuated within a narrow range, around 7,300 - 9,000 VND/kg, only slightly up compared to last weekend.

In many localities, buying and selling transactions are relatively stable. In An Giang , warehouses increased purchases compared to previous days. In Sa Dec (Dong Thap), prices remained stable, while in Lap Vo, good rice increased slightly. Wholesale markets such as Sa Dec and An Cu recorded moderate rice arrivals, more active transactions, and prices did not fluctuate much.

Fresh rice prices remain stable

In the fresh rice segment, prices of all varieties also remained stable. IR 504 rice was at 5,000 - 5,100 VND/kg, OM 18 fluctuated at 5,600 - 5,800 VND/kg, Dai Thom 8 was at 5,700 - 5,800 VND/kg, OM 5451 was at 5,900 - 6,000 VND/kg. High-quality varieties such as Nang Hoa 9 remained at 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg.

Summer-Autumn rice supply is now almost depleted, and transactions are sparse. Farmers in Can Tho and Dong Thap are offering higher prices, while traders are switching to buying Autumn-Winter rice. Other provinces such as Vinh Long, Ca Mau and Tay Ninh are maintaining a moderate buying and selling situation, with little price fluctuation.

Stable retail rice prices

In the retail market, rice prices today have not changed much.

High-quality rice varieties remain popular: Nang Nhen is at 28,000 VND/kg, Huong Lai is around 22,000 VND/kg. Thai fragrant rice ranges from 20,000 to 22,000 VND/kg, Jasmine from 16,000 to 18,000 VND/kg, Japanese rice is around 22,000 VND/kg.

Other popular rice varieties fluctuate around 13,000 - 17,000 VND/kg.

Rice exports decline

In the international market, Vietnam’s rice export prices have recorded a decline. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 5% broken fragrant rice decreased by 5 USD to 440-450 USD/ton. Meanwhile, Jasmine rice and 100% broken rice remained stable at 496-450 USD/ton and 318-322 USD/ton, respectively.

The slowdown in export prices shows that the international market is still volatile, but also opens up opportunities for export businesses thanks to price competitiveness compared to some countries in the region.
