Rice price today September 16: Market is more vibrant

Rice prices today have increased for some types, transactions in many localities are more active, the market is generally stable.

Rice prices today in the Mekong Delta

The domestic rice market on the morning of September 16 was generally stable, with transactions somewhat more active. In the Mekong Delta, rice prices only fluctuated slightly in some varieties. IR 50404 rice (fresh) was purchased at around 5,000 - 5,100 VND/kg, OM 18 rice fluctuated from 5,600 - 5,800 VND/kg. Fragrant rice varieties such as Dai Thom 8 or Nang Hoa 9 had higher prices, commonly at 5,700 - 6,200 VND/kg.

In many localities, trading activities have improved but the harvest output is not much. In Dong Thap, the rice supply is still sporadic, traders buy small. Can Tho and An Giang recorded that Autumn-Winter rice is offered at stable prices, with cautious transactions. Vinh Long and Ca Mau have stable prices, while Tay Ninh (former Long An ) has a rather quiet market.

Export rice prices increased slightly

Regarding rice, many types of raw rice for export increased by about 150 VND/kg compared to the weekend. IR 504 and CL 555 rice are currently at 7,900 - 8,000 VND/kg. OM 18 rice remains at 8,500 - 8,600 VND/kg, while OM 5451 rice fluctuates at 7,700 - 7,900 VND/kg. IR 504 finished rice is sold at 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg, while OM 380 rice fluctuates at 8,800 - 9,000 VND/kg.

At some warehouses in Dong Thap and An Giang , the amount of rice arriving is low, transactions are slow, but the basic price remains stable. Sa Dec market recorded a decrease in supply, sparse trading activities, and little price fluctuation.

Fluctuations in rice by-product prices

In addition to commercial rice, by-products also recorded small changes. The price of OM 504 broken rice increased by VND100/kg, fluctuating between VND7,300 and VND7,400/kg. Bran price remained at VND8,000 and VND9,000/kg, continuing to be an important source of raw materials for the livestock industry.

Retail rice prices at markets

At retail markets, rice prices remained mostly unchanged from last weekend. Nang Nhen rice remained at its highest level, around VND28,000/kg. Fragrant rice varieties such as Huong Lai, Nang Hoa or Jasmine ranged from VND16,000 to VND22,000/kg.

Common white rice remains at VND16,000/kg, while Japanese rice is sold at around VND22,000/kg.

Export rice price on the international market

According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), rice export prices are remaining at a good level. 5% broken fragrant rice is trading at around 440-450 USD/ton, Jasmine rice at 494-498 USD/ton. 100% broken rice remains at 319-323 USD/ton, helping the Vietnamese export market maintain its competitiveness.
